Flying Pikachu (Japanese: そらをとぶピカチュウ Flying Pikachu) is a Lightning-type Basic Pokémon card. It is one of the Unnumbered Promotional cards.

Release information

In Japan, this card was distributed by All Nippon Airlines throughout June and July in 1999. Passengers flying in conjunction with the "Everyone's Happy Campaign" could redeem their boarding passes for a two-card set that included Flying Pikachu and Articuno.

Trivia

Since the release of this card, Pikachu that know Fly have appeared in other Pokémon media. A Pikachu with Fly can be downloaded to a Pokémon video game via certain events or game peripherals.

Origin

Thunder Jolt is a move in the Super Smash Bros. series that Pikachu can use. Fly is also a move, though Pikachu cannot learn it under normal conditions.
