Buried Fossil (Japanese: ちていのかせきFossil from the Depths of the Earth) is a Colorless-type Basic Pokémon card. It is part of the Skyridge expansion.
Card text
You may play a Pokémon card that evolves from Mysterious Fossil on top of Buried Fossil. (This counts as evolving Buried Fossil.) Buried Fossil can't be affected by Special Conditions.
Reconstruction
じこふくげん
Once during your turn (before your attack), if you have a basic Energy card in your hand, you may search your deck for an Omanyte or Kabuto card, show it to your opponent, and put it into your hand. Then put a basic Energy card from your hand into your deck. Shuffle your deck afterward.

Rulings
Because the text states that players can play a card that evolves from Mysterious Fossil, it is permissible to evolve Buried Fossil into Aerodactyl ex from EX Sandstorm, despite no specific mention of Aerodactyl ex.[1] This ruling also allows Buried Fossil to evolve into Dark Omanyte.
Conversely, despite the text stating the card can evolve into Omanyte, Kabuto, and Aerodactyl, the Omanyte, Kabuto, and Aerodactyl cards from Majestic Dawn and later expansions cannot evolve from Buried Fossil, as those cards do not evolve from Mysterious Fossil.[2]
Cards such as Pokémon Breeder or Rare Candy can be used to play Omastar and Kabutops from any and all sets due to being able to evolve from any Omanyte or Kabuto, respectively.[1]
The Reconstruction Poké-Power is not restricted in which Omanyte and Kabuto it can search for, as that power is not bound by Evolution mechanics. As such, Buried Fossil can still search for Omanyte and Kabuto it can't evolve into.
Trivia
The German version of this card erroneously credits the illustrator as Katsura Tabata.
Fossils are items in the Pokémon games that can be revived into Pokémon. This card is not an item though, being a Pokémon instead. The Helix Fossil is featured in the illustration, along with what appears to be fossilized Kabuto. There are also some wing bones which could be related to Aerodactyl.
