Bulbasaur (Japanese: フシギダネ Fushigidane) is a Grass-type Basic Pokémon card. It was first released as part of the Pokémon GO expansion.

Release information

This card was included in the Pokémon GO expansion with artwork by sowsow, first released in the Japanese subset of the same name. It was reprinted as a SWSH Black Star Promo with different artwork by Shibuzoh. and was available in the Pokémon GO Pin Collection—Bulbasaur from August 5, 2022. In Japan, this print was released as a S-P Promotional card and was distributed as part of the Pokémon GO Promo Card Gift Campaign, which began on June 17, 2022. For every four Pokémon GO booster packs purchased in one transaction at participating stores, customers would receive a Promo Card Pack containing one of seven possible cards.[1] The campaign ran for as long as stocks lasted.

In Mainland China, this card was released with different artwork by saino misaki, which was not released in any other market.

Origin

Vine Whip and Razor Leaf are both moves in the Pokémon games that Bulbasaur can learn. This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Sword. The SWSH Promotional print's illustration depicts Bulbasaur holding onto a Gift, an item in Pokémon GO that can be received from a Buddy Pokémon.
