Move animations in other generations

On the tabs per every move that wasn't introduced this gen, there's a tab called "in other generations" that show animated pngs or still images (dependent on the generation) of previous generations. Usually one game represents each generation unless the individual move animation or the game's overall aesthetic presentation is different between games. (edited)Tuesday, May 26, 2026

For Gens I and II, the apngs used to be sourced from Yellow and Crystal, respectively, since they're the last and most polished of their games

For some reason, in around 2020 I want to say, they were replaced with gifs from the less-refined Red and Blue and Gold and Silver games

This is not universally applied either. Similarly, Gen IV tends to be represented by HGSS for the same reason Yellow and Crystal represented their respective generations...and they continue to represent their generation, because, dot dot dot...
