The Brick Piece serves no practical purpose other than to be sold.

Description

In all Generation II games, the Japanese description is 「われた　かわらのかけら」 (A piece of a cracked roof tile.) Unlike in the Japanese version, it is described as "rare" in English or as "strange" (extraño) in Spanish.
