As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

• For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.

• The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
• The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
• The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
• On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
• The use of link templates is official policy.
• If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
• A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
• For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
• Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
• If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Darknesslover5000/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
• Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
• A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Pictures

You don't add pictures by linking them from other sites. You need to make an account at the Bulbapedia Archives. You upload images there and then link them on here with [[Image:Example.jpg]] --☆ケンジガール 06:08, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Slow down on editing the User: namespace. Editing your userpage too much will lead to it being locked again. Instead of making multiple small edits, why not instead use the preview button (Alt + Shift + P) to check your edits before saving the page. Thank you. --☆ケンジガール 01:08, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Talk Page Archives

If a talk page has "archive" in its title, that means it's no longer in use. All active conversation should go to a user's current talk page. For example, instead of posting a new comment on User talk:Kenji-girl/Archive 3, which is an archive, post it on User talk:Kenji-girl, an active talk page. --Shiningpikablu252 01:32, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

For starters, don't go spamming up someone's talk page asking for help. Spamming up a user's talk page will more than likely make that user less likely to help you.

Why don't you start off with user tags. To use them but {{User <blank>}} on your user page. REMEMBER to click the PREVIEW button before you save anything. Darkness, what sort of signature are you trying to make here? A simple name, or perhaps you want the name in color? Let me know what you'd like, and I can help you out a bit more.

Like Shining said, you edit your signature in your Preferences, the "Nickname" field will edit how your signature looks when you type four tildes (~~~~). Testing your signature, eh? See how that works? If you type something other then your username into the Nickname box, then your signature will change to reflect that. For example, if you shortened your username down to "D.L.5000", then the signature would look like this: D.L.5000 (notice that it'll always link back to the correct userpage, no matter what you type in there). All depends, different people do that in different ways. You could just list your team like normal, use asterisks * to make bullets and do a list like this:

• Porygon
• Sneasel
• Pikachu
• Jolteon

Or if you want more complicated coding, something like Ash's Pokémon team: (you can hit "Edit" on this section to see the coding for this one)

Chimchar	Buizel	Gliscor

For now, I'd suggest keeping it simple with the first suggestion, but if you decide to try out the latter one, remember to use the "Show Preview" button when you're testing it, DON'T use the "Save Page" button until you're sure you've got it right. Usertags

Please don't go copying and pasting the usertag code. Instead, include the template by typing {{<name of template>}}, where <name of template> is the name of the template you're trying to include. Signature

Your page was a fan page referencing a character you made up. The mainspace is not for fan pages like that, which is why he moved it to your userspace. gabbie | talk 18:52, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

User pages

Please don't put your own user pages in the Main namespace. I've moved your article about "Ahatake Kurosaki" to User:Darknesslover5000/Ahatake Kurosaki so it doesn't go against the rules, but next time, if you want to make an article about yourself, create the article at User:Darknesslover5000/(Article title). - _s.Combusken 18:48, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
