This card was released in the English {{TCG|HeartGold & SoulSilver}} expansion with an illustration by [[Kagemaru Himeno]], originating from the Japanese {{TCG|SoulSilver Collection}}. In Japan, a promotional print of this card was released before the actual version. This print has a graphic covering Typhlosion's Fire Spin attack, which was revealed upon its actual release. The card was available as an insert in issue 9 of ''Pokémon Fan'' magazine, released on September 18, 2009. The graphic on this Japanese promotional version displays the Pokémon Card Game LEGEND series logo and SoulSilver Collection logo.
 
An exclusive Cosmos Holofoil print of this card was included in the English {{TCG|Ember Spark}} {{TCG|Theme Deck}}. An exclusive Cracked Ice Holofoil print of this card was included in the {{TCGMerch|HeartGold & SoulSilver|Series|HeartGold & SoulSilver Series Collection}} released November 2010.
