::::::::It's definitely an American thing. Anyway, try saying, "But without the crystal, '''the''' poor Zapdos may not make it." Now, that doesn't sound right, from a writer's POV (and you need to be a writer if your recreating a script). If they had worded it, "the poor thing" or "the poor dear," it would make sense, but to say, "the poor Zapdos" implies it is general (as opposed to specific) and isn't referring to a direct subject. But there is one. And it's not hard to imagine Krystal taking a vested interest in all the electric types. The Zapdos also might be a regular fixture around the lake, and she might have taken a shine to it (without capturing it). Like the same relationship Noland feels for his Articuno (which isn't his). Zapdos

Wait a minute... she references the Zapdos as belonging to her? Should this be mentioned? felinoel 23:53, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

More specifically, about seventeen and a half minutes into the episode she says, "But without the crystal, my poor Zapdos may not make it." felinoel 18:04, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
The Zapdos is wild, but it's a pokémon Krystal is watching over as it heals. There's a sense of "ownership" on that sense, that it belongs to no one but it's more or less "in her care" but not to the point of physical ownership. It's not very different than saying, "My poor baby," to anyone or thing. Without her confirming that it's hers by outright saying, "It's mine," you can't assume it is. Who says, "My poor baby," to anyone or thing? o.0
That seems kind of creepy... felinoel 03:36, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
It's a very common saying. --HoennMaster 15:36, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
Must be a local thing... I noticed from my time as a fan of Runescape several years ago that the Australians had some interesting slang, this must be like that or something... still seems creepy for someone to say that to just anyone... felinoel 02:21, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
It's usually used for children and pets. When they get hurt or something. Not for some random person on the street. --ケンジガール 02:32, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Hmmm, well that I can see, but Zapdos is supposedly neither of those? felinoel 13:55, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
It's definitely an American thing. Anyway, try saying, "But without the crystal, the poor Zapdos may not make it."
