:Its been known the first week of BW's release (note sprites of N. #000). Though on topic, this is National #000 whilst Victini is National #494. The BW ----- when captured will actually appear in the party unlike GenIV:000. There also appears to be [[Generation IV hybrids|a new exception handler]] which makes an encounter with any Pokémon with index number greater than 651 withdraw the pointer data for species (Bulbasaur,Ivysaur...Meloetta,Genesect and repeat) instead, so for now we have BW:000, BW:650 (Egg) and BW:651 (Manaphy Egg) to encounter. --[[User:Chickasaurus|Chickasaurus]] 16:52, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Um, is this at all notable? Not to mention the article is full of misspellings. --PAK Man 16:15, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

1.There are no misspellings. 2.Just follow the link I put. it dosent look fake to me.--Lucarioking 16:43, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

1. Yes there are. Pokémon is spelled as "pokemon" more than once. 2. No it isn't fake. It definitely needs a better name, though, and to be cleaned up.

My judgment? Currently this article is total crap. In fact, both it and Invisible shiny Bulbasaur are. I mean, honestly, there are no apostrophes, no capital letters, jeez, Lucarioking, did your punctuation and shift keys break?

They're notable (though maybe not ISB... that sounds more like a Pikablu than anything), but they need heavy cleanup. --TTEchidna 00:02, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Removal??

Has DPBox been removed for the European versions of Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl? It's to be released on the 27th July 2007 and I'm just wondering if it has been corrected or not. The same uestion goes for the Invisible Shiny Bulbasaur.

P.S. I can't wait for when it is released!! - Tesh!

Yes, it has been Not even we over here in the US got it. --TTEchidna 23:11, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Indeed. With the exception of the Japanese version, a cheat device is required to encounter DPBox. However, I've heard that the POMEG Glitch is still present in Diamond/Pearl, and IF it is, then one could use the Emerald POMEG method of encountering ?????????? to potentially encounter DPBox.--DavidJCobb 19:29, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

sprite

1) why is the sprite animated? 2) i'm trying to get the battle sprite from my emulator, will let you know when i'm done. OrigamiGuy-Talk-Contribs-Mudkipz 12:00, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Pomeg glitch

it does exists in D/P,but unfotunately it works now in a very diferent way wich is almost unexploitable

How do you do it? --Shiny Noctowl 00:27, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

in the same way as you would in Emerald version,i tryied it with my Torterra and it indeed worked

How's it in a different way and almost unexploitable, then? --Shiny Noctowl 00:37, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

because you aren't able to KO your Pokémon with a Potion,it says "There's no need for that now" try it,remember EVing the target some in HP to make the glitch

So you can't use it to get a Metapod from an egg anymore? --Shiny Noctowl 00:47, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

nope, but using a DPBox you can have a freezing Bad Egg figth, sometimes with overlevels, the higher i have seen its 224,and also i have seen a Manaphy Bad Egg,or a Bad Egg with Insomnia

About this glitch...

Many people says that this glitch may appear even without the use of any cheating device. Will it really appear if you have 2 fainted Pokémon, an egg, and a healthy on in your party? Palkia38 05:02, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Lemme go try it... Know what, I'll record it too. Crüsäder 15:21, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
I tried it in the US version, it didn't work. Theininen 14:33, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah,I tried it too,and it did not work.ShinyEmpoleon20:27, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Mistake

The same thing is said twice here.

It can also appear when one "recruits" a partner trainer (such as Riley) and leaves the area the partner is "supposed" to be in using a Walk Through Walls cheat; from there, the player must trigger a wild battle (a common method is to walk on water). This results in the partner (who was replaced by a placeholder partner when the player left the "recruitment area") sending out DPBox as a placeholder Pokémon. In Double Battles, DPBox copies the speed of its partner and changes all Pokémon's cries to Bulbasaur's cry. After every attack animation, its HP bar disappears. It has no usable attacks (although it may have glitch attacks) and it doesn't show up on the Pokémon screen.

Then it says

It can also be encountered by using the "walk anywhere" code activated and having a partner so as to encounter wild Pokémon in double battles. If this is done outside the area you "recruited" the partner, the partner's sprite will be replaced by the player's sprite (so that they look like a clone of the player), their Pokémon will be changed to a DPBox, and their name will be changed to a blank space. This is most likely because by exiting the area the partner was confined to, the player caused the game to remove all of the partner's stats from memory, but because of the walk through walls code, the game never realized that the player no longer has a partner; thus, when entering a wild double battle, a placeholder trainer sends out its placeholder DPBox.

Which means the same thing, so I've deleted paragraph two. MooTwo 14:25, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Umm...?

Could someone explain these sentences to me?

Turn the glove into the orange glove and select and drag the glove toward the Pokémon that has the item. Drag it back to DPBox to grab it. Keep it selected and take the item off of it.

So many "it"s and stuff that I can't even understand how to fix it. Theininen 22:12, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Before doing this...

I just want to see this glitch... Well, if have the things needed to have this DPBox, the 2 fainted Pokémon, the healthy one, and an egg, I'd go on a double battle, but before that, I'll save the game, then enter the double battle. Of course, DPBox would show up, and if I turned off the game, will DPBox still appear if I turned back on my game?Palkia38 03:10, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Nevermind... LOL Palkia38 10:58, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Links

This page has the links at the top to arceus and bulbasaur, but they don't link back, should i leave it or fix it? Theininen 14:36, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

It's just a fun thing because it's National Dex # is 000, which would put it between Arceus and Bulbasaur. Since it isn't an official Pokémon though, don't change the links on those two pages. ←{Berrymaster|Talk|Contrib}→ 15:06, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Wha do?

This is a long shot, but I figured I'd give my two cents in regards to this phenomenon.

I've had a decent amount of coding experience and I've got a hypothesis about why part of "What will (Pokémon) do?" is cut out. Given the way programs use memory it's possible that the placeholder data at least partially shares memory with something else (like if you got more than 99 of an item in Gen I the tens place would show different tiles instead of numbers) - and I've found out (usually by accident) that programming languages often include "backspace characters" and/or may interpret certain values outside the character set in the same way.

Because I don't have a way to verify anything in this case I'm only making an educated guess, but I think it might be possible that somehow or other the DPBox's name contains enough backspace characters (actual or incidental) to cut out the "t will " in this sentence. Depending on the whats and hows, it could even explain some of the other abnormalities associated with the glitch.

Does anyone have a way of checking this out? On that note, it'd be interesting to poke around in the game's code, I'm going to see if there is a way - I'm sure there is, but I'm not sure where to start; any suggestions? thanks Icecadavers 06:16, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

I also have a decent bit of coding experience, and i too reckon it's a backspace character (or just a character with a negative 'width' attribute). Not a clue how to go about looking at the source code - that would also be reverse engineering, and thus illegal. Lord of Origami :) 11:41, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

maybe this should be put in the article

Maybe it should be added that there is another another way somewhat like the double battle glitch to find a -----, what you do is you use an action replay code to clone other people on the map to clone a trainer (This doesn't work with the versus seeker) when the trainer notices you he should talk to you and try to battle you but then the clone of the trainer will notice you and talk to you and because there are two of them it should trigger a double battle but because there is only one trainer it should send out a regular Pokemon and a ----- (this only works on a trianer with one pokemon) and after you've beaten the regular Pokemon the battle should end with a slight lag at the end from trying to display the second trainer. If you would like the code to clone trainers I will happily post it. 0piggyjelly0 18:02, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Merge invisible shiny bulbasaur with this?

This article states that invisible shiny bulbasaur is just a varient of this glitch; therefore should invisible shiny bulbasaur be merged with this as it appears to have the same index number. --Chickasaurus 19:03, 7 December 2009 (UTC) 19:03, 07 December 2009 (GMT)

I agree, plus, the information is pretty similar as well. Merge tags will now be placed. --SnorlaxMonster 23:56, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
I agree with the merge, I just don't know where the article should be placed, ----- or ISB. --ZestyCactus 05:56, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
It would be at -----, as that is the official name (I think). --SnorlaxMonster 06:52, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
----- and Invisible Shiny Bulbasaur may be related, but are not the same glitch. ----- appears on the player's side of the battlefield whereas Invisible Shiny Bulbasaur appears in the wild (I think). Therefore, I do not agree with the merge. Pokered4000 16:56, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
Or is it that it is the same glitch, but named ----- on the player's side of the field, and unnamed on the opponent's? --SnorlaxMonster 03:01, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
There's no conclusive proof either way, and therefore I oppose a merge. Also Invisible Shiny Bulbasaur requires cheating doesn't it? OwnageMuch 06:40, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
----- is actually its own Pokémon, not just another Invisible Shiny Bulbasaur. ISB isn't in Gen V, ----- is. Jhuyu26 21:58, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

No cry

When I had this clit glitch there was no bulbasaur cry.--Vampirebidoof 15:43, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

No cry when a wild one appeared or no cry when you sent it out? --SnorlaxMonster 04:00, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

When a wild one appeared. --Vampirebidoof 04:16, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Ok, so now it can be found legitimately in English versions too.

With the pomeg glitch, I found how to get it (temporarily).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBgXbAErIRI

So what do you think? Should I add it? I believe I should. OwnageMuch 03:58, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

Another way to obtain it

It can also be obtained when you breed a hybrid with Ditto.

Egg cycles

1 (255 Steps).

--Metang 00:16, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Cheating not being notable and all

Since there're ways to use this (if only temporarily) in all versions now, should the stuff about using an Action Replay be removed or kept? What are your thoughts? OwnageMuch 21:33, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I think that because it can be encountered via Pomeg glitch at the Battleground, the entire article needs to be rewritten to focus on that. It may also need to be merged with invisible Shiny Bulbasaur. If you want, go ahead and rewrite it. If you do, using {{inuse}} might be a good idea. --SnorlaxMonster 03:29, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
It doesn't need to be merged. They are seperate. Also ISB is cheating only as far as I know. I might just rewrite it when I get the time soon... Also it can be used on the Japanese versions in a much easier way, and the pomeg glitch version is confirmed in D/P too using an Elite Four member as the trainer. OwnageMuch 21:00, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Well, when you do rewrite it, can you have information about ISB regardless of the fact that it's cheating only. See this section. It seems that ISB is a variant of this, so it doesn't seem to deserve something separate. --SnorlaxMonster 08:47, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
But isn't ISB cheating exclusive and has some differing chatacteristics? I could try and merge it in but I know very little about it. OwnageMuch 09:35, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
I was hoping you did know something about it. It seems to just be a varient of this. If it is, it can either get a section with a "main article" link like now, or just be deleted and redirected here. If it were up to me, we wouldn't have ANY cheating only glitches, but the EB still wants them. --SnorlaxMonster 11:50, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
How do we even know they're different Pokémon? To me it sounds like the same thing as -----. It says it's a "variant" but I don't see any difference except the Bulbasaur cry. OwnageMuch 21:33, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
I'll satrt on redoing the article now and do the merge later. OwnageMuch 21:36, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I've reordered the article, however I didn't remove anything yet, and we still need to figure out about this merge. It seems to me like ISB is just ----- without a sprite and with the Bulbasaur cry. Also, I don't know how to fix the numbering after using this code tag. It probably could be redone to be less like a walkthrough anyway though.... OwnageMuch 22:19, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
Did a bit more. Does it work at Indigo Plateau/in the Fighting Dojo? --SnorlaxMonster 11:32, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
It could well do. No one has tried yet. As long as it's a trainer you have to talk to to battle (and not VS Seeker). I don't think anyone has even attempted it in HG/SS yet but it would probably work. Also, it would be great to see if this works in Black/White. OwnageMuch 21:50, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Oh, so this could work on any Trainer as long as a VS Seeker isn't used? So this could work on not-yet-battled Trainers? --SnorlaxMonster 09:55, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

No, I don't think so. As far as I've tested you have to have to talk to them (if that makes sense). OwnageMuch 20:29, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

So what if you walked up on their side a talked to them instead of them seeing you, or would that still not work. Also, how about Barry? --SnorlaxMonster 00:47, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
That doesn't work afaik. You can try Barry if you want, but I can't be bothered (it would require me to EV train another Pokémon) OwnageMuch 21:44, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
I meant to mention this ages ago, but doing this with Barry just causes a game freeze in diamond just before the battle starts. --SnorlaxMonster 07:25, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Generation V

It looks that someone discovered new "MissingNo.", named -----. You can watch video here. Strangest thing is that it shares No. with Victini. *Note that it was found with ActionReplay*. 12:07, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Its been known the first week of BW's release (note sprites of N. #000). Though on topic, this is National #000 whilst Victini is National #494. The BW ----- when captured will actually appear in the party unlike GenIV:000.
