A Supporter card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game is a type of Trainer card that is usually especially powerful. As a result of this, a player may only play one Supporter card each turn. Supporter cards first appeared in the Expedition Base Set of TCG cards, and almost instantly appeared in most decks. Bill, from the Base Set, is a card that would most likely appear as a supporter if it was reprinted in a later set.

Use

Supporter cards will always say "Supporter" on them, so a player can easily identify them and will not play more than one per turn. When a Supporter card is played, it stays on the field until the end of the player's turn, as opposed to going into the discard pile immediately after use like a normal trainer card. Newer Supporters (from Diamond & Pearl and on) are classified as an entirely different card type, separate from Trainer cards. Older cards that search trainers can search out newer Supporters, but newer cards that search out Trainer cards cannot search out newer Supporters.
