Release information
In Japan, this card was released as one of the SM-P Promotional cards and was available as part of a collaboration between the Pokémon Company and the Munch: A Retrospective exhibition present at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum between October 27, 2018 and January 20, 2019. The illustration draws inspiration from Edvard Munch's The Scream, the 1910 version (tempera on cardboard) of which was displayed in Japan for the first time as part of the exhibition. How Pikachu will be distributed is still to be announced.
Trivia
When placed in collection number order, the Pokémon from the preceding card is featured as a silhouette in the background of the illustration. Psyduck, the first in the sequence, instead features silhouettes of Haunter and Gengar.
Origin
The Scream attack is another reference to the basis of the card's inspiration. This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Moon.
