VS Shedinja II (Japanese: VS ヌケニンII!! VS Nukenin II !!) is the 318th round of the Pokémon Adventures manga.
Sneaky Like Shedinja II/VS. Shedinja II or The Fighting Spirit of Victory (Japanese: VS ヌケニンII VS Nukenin II or 勝利を呼ぶ闘志 Calling on the Guts of Victory) is the 318th round of the Pokémon Adventures manga.
Synopsis
Continuing her match against Emerald, Greta attempts to push for a knockout and prevent the final round for reaching evaluation per the rules of the Battle Arena, ordering a SolarBeam from her Shedinja that sends Emerald's Sudowoodo flying. As Sudowoodo lies on the arena floor, Emerald quietly declares that he's lost, but Todd points out that Sudowoodo is struggling to get up. Todd encourages Emerald to cheer for Sudowoodo, reminding the boy that his Pokémon believe in him; awkwardly, Emerald manages to cheer Sudowoodo on, who stands up on its feet to Greta's surprise. Evaluation occurs, ruling that Emerald wins by a score of 4 to 2.

Greta proceeds to award Emerald the Guts Symbol, thanking Emerald for the great match and apologizing for thinking him a coward. Emerald tiredly accepts the symbol, prompting Greta to realize that the boy and his team are exhausted. Greta disapproves of Emerald camping out in the open and invites him to stay in the challengers' accomodation, and Emerald collapses in sleep. As the other Brains look on, Noland appears behind them, having awoken from his coma and offers his help - he analyzed metal powder scraped from Guile Hideout's sword when he was attacked, and found properties similar to the moves Reflect and Light Screen. Anabel guesses that Guile's sword protects him from all attacks when he slashes with it, creating a temporary void that blocks and reflects attacks. Noland volunteers to continue deciphering Professor Oak's report on Jirachi, and Scott permits him.
Plot
In her battle against Emerald, Arena Tycoon refuses to let the final round end with an assessment. She sends out her Shedinja and has it fire a Solar Beam straight at Emerald's Sudowoodo. Emerald declares that he lost, but the reporter points out that Sudowoodo is still able to battle. The reporter edges Emerald to cheer for the Pokémon that have been fighting for him all this time. Although he struggles initially, Emerald manages to cheer Sudowoodo on and tells it to not give up.

Later that night, Greta and Todd escort the sleeping Emerald and team to his room, placing his Pokémon in the provided restoration machine. Greta attempts to dress Emerald for bed, eventually throwing off all his clothes when frustrated by Emerald's gigantic platform shoes, surprising both herself and Todd when Emerald turns out to be a midget - his arms and legs have been extended with his extender hands and PokéBall-filled platform shoes. Todd ushers a stunned Greta out of the room for Emerald's privacy, when Emerald's Sceptile, Sudowoodo and Dusclops emerge, fully healed, and worriedly look over their Trainer.
Sudowoodo smiles, and manages to stand back up. The battle ends with an assessment, Emerald wins with a score of four to two, much to his surprise. Greta awards Emerald the Guts Symbol, thanking Emerald for the great match and apologizing for thinking that he had no fighting spirit. Emerald tiredly thanks Greta, and starts to go outside to sleep. Greta tells Emerald that he can use the Battle Frontier's accommodations from now on, but he and his Pokémon fall asleep from exhaustion.

Sudowoodo suddenly has a brainwave, and squeezes Magost Berry juice to feed the sleeping Emerald. Todd guesses that Sudowoodo's nursing behaviour indicate that it's a female, when Sceptile jealously cuts up a platter of Berries for Emerald. Todd realizes that the two Pokémon are fighting over the right to care for Emerald as they rapidly prepare various mouthwatering Berry-based dishes. Dusclops, unable to cook and join the competition, summons up a black hole that (to Todd's dismay) consumes all the prepared food, and begins to draw Emerald in. A desperate tug-of-war occurs between the three Pokémon until Emerald is jolted awake from the pulling.
Suddenly, Factory Head appears behind the other Frontier Brains, noting how everyone has become friendlier with Emerald in the time he's been out. The other Frontier Brains apologize to Noland for failing to defeat Guile and avenge him. Noland tells them not to worry, as he has found something that can give them an advantage for when they face their enemy again. In a flashback to when Guile had knocked Noland out, Noland scratches the surface of Guile's sword with his fingers. He reveals that he found powder with properties similar to the moves Reflect and Light Screen, making it some kind of barrier item. By swinging it, the sword creates a veil around Guile that can deflect moves right back at their senders.

Shortly after, Emerald exasperatedly expresses his annoyance to Todd as his Pokémon shamefully sit in the corner. Emerald explains that since he'd never owned Pokémon before, he didn't expect them to fight over him and he is troubled by this development. Recalling how he cheered Sudowoodo on, the boy is frustrated at how something like that resulted in a significant change in the battle, which he had always believed to be rooted in understanding the mechanics of Pokémon battles. Todd admits that he cannot offer Emerald advice, since he isn't a Trainer himself.
Salon Maiden realizes that it was because of this that Guile was able to reflect their attacks back at them in Artisan Cave as well as his Surskit still being able to move despite being hit by Raikou's Thunder. Noland asks Scott for the Jirachi Report, as he might be able to use it to decipher where Jirachi will show up next. Scott hands the report over and states that he puts his trust in Noland. Dome Ace gets excited and suggests to Palace Maven that they train for their upcoming battle with Emerald. Spenser declines and departs to the Battle Frontier (Generation III) for rest while asking to not be disturbed. At the Battle Palace, Spenser looks at the markings on his arms while muttering Guile's name under his breath.

At the Battle Factory, Noland continues to decipher the Jirachi report, and is joined by Brandon who offers him coffee. Brandon wonders what a person might wish from Jirachi as Noland hypothesizes that the report details an eyewitness account of a person who had their wish granted by Jirachi one millennium ago. One passage, in particular, mentions the word "eye" a lot. With help from Brandon, Noland deciphers the passage: Jirachi will only grant the wish of a person who meets eye-to-eye with Jirachi's third eye when it opens, allowing Jirachi to peer inside their heart. Elsewhere, Jirachi freely flies about as the third eye on its chest opens.
At the Battle Frontier's accommodations, Greta carries Emerald's Pokémon on her back with the reporter following behind her with Emerald on his back. They place Emerald on a bed while Greta has Emerald's team put in a recovery machine. Greta notes that with all of his gadgets, Emerald might be uncomfortable sleeping and decides to strip and put him in a pair of pajamas. Much to their shock, Emerald is actually a lot shorter than he really appears. The reporter ushers Greta out of the room and makes her promise to pretend like she didn't see anything.

Back inside the room, the reporter has clothed Emerald again, and notes that Emerald would be shocked to find out that people have learned his true height. The reporter decides to go back to his room, but Emerald, Sudowoodo, and Dusclops emerge from the recovery machine, fully healed. Looking worried for their Trainer, Sudowoodo creates Berry Juice for Emerald out of Magost Berries. Noting how domesticated Sudowoodo is makes the reporter realize that she is actually a female.

Annoyed, Sceptile brings out several Berries to make a fruit salad out of them with its Leaf Blade. This causes a rivalry between Sceptile and Sudowoodo to see who will take care of Emerald. They get into a fight, creating several foods made from the Berries, which the reporter notes as delicious. Dusclops, who hasn't been able to join in the competition gets angry and summons a black hole in front of its hands. The black hole, to the reporter's dismay, sucks the food into it and begins drawing Emerald inside.

Realizing that Dusclops wants Emerald all to itself, the reporter, Sceptile, and Sudowoodo start a tug-of-war to prevent Emerald from being sucked into the black hole. The struggle causes Emerald to wake up, and he demands that everyone let him go. Emerald explains that since he had never owned Pokémon before, he didn't expect them to fight over him and he is troubled by this development. Recalling how he cheered Sudowoodo on, the boy is frustrated at how something like that resulted in a significant change in the battle, which he had always believed to be rooted in understanding the mechanics of Pokémon battles. The reporter admits that he cannot offer Emerald advice, since he isn't a Trainer himself.

At the Battle Frontier (Generation III), Noland continues deciphering the Jirachi Report. Pyramid King appears, offering Noland a cup of coffee. Noland notes how the more he examines the Jirachi Report, the more he finds it interesting. He states that since its been a thousand years since Jirachi last awakened, he wonders if someone really did get their wish granted from back then. Brandon wonders if the person who had their wish granted wished for eternal life.

Noland points out a passage, which he deciphers as being a record from the last person who had their wish granted. Noland realizes that the passage reveals that Jirachi has a third eye, and that only those who meet face-to-face with this eye and connect with its heart will get their wish granted. Elsewhere, Jirachi freely flies about as the third eye on its chest opens.
