Mika Kanai

Mika Kanai (かないみか Kanai Mika) is a Japanese voice actress for the Pokémon anime.

Biography

Kanai was born on March 18, 1964, in Tokyo, Japan, and became a voice actress and singer as an adult. Her early famous roles in the Pokémon anime were Jigglypuff, Tracey's Marill, and Ash's Bayleef, all during the original series. In Pokémon the Series: Black & White, she started voicing Iris's Emolga and James's Yamask. In Pokémon the Series: XY, she took over voicing Bonnie from XY087 to XY100 when Mariya Ise went on maternity leave. She was married to fellow voice actor Kōichi Yamadera from 1994 until their divorce in 2006. Kanai is currently affiliated with the talent agency Ken Production.
