Generation IV Pokémon games will consist of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl on Nintendo DS.

New Pokémon

The following Generation IV Pokémon are known:

Starting Pokémon

Though it was previously rumored that the Grass-type/Fire-type/Water-type trio would be replaced instead with a Dark-type/Psychic-Type/Fighting-type trio, these proved to be false, and Diamond and Pearl's staters will be the Grass-type Naetle, the Fire-type Hikozaru, and the Water-type Pochama.

New region

Diamond and Pearl will take place in new region known by its Japanese name, Shin'ō, which is based off of the northernmost island of Japan. It is unknown how this region relates geographically with the other three. It has also been revealed that the first town in the region is called Futaba town, and that there will be snowy parts of the world.
