Earl (Japanese: ジョバンニ) is the teacher of the Pokémon Academy in Violet City or White City, depending on if you are playing Pokémon Gold, Silver, or Crystal, or if you are playing Pokémon Stadium 2.
Earl is notable for changing the order of the words in his sentences, somewhat like Yoda from Star Wars. For example, when asking a potential student if they want to learn from him, he will ask, "What you want to know? Want to be a winner is you?"
