Shinji's Chimchar battling Zugaidos
Shinji's Chimchar (Japanese: シンジのヒコザル Shinji's Hikozaru) is one of the few Pokémon that Shinji has. Chimchar is voiced by 林原めぐみ Megumi Hayashibara. It is assumed to be Shinji's Starter Pokemon.
Shinji was first seen with Chimchar in DP003. It had a fierce battle with Ash's Aipom. It fought long and well but lost in the end. Although it lost, Shinji still believed in it and decided not to let Chimchar go.
Chimchar also reappeared in DP006 and fought Ash's Turtwig and actually won this time. Before Ash's battle with Hyōta, Shinji battled with Chimchar in DP015 but won even though Zugaidos beat Chimchar.
