Talk:List of Pokémon by Hoenn Pokédex number in Generation III

There are 184 Generation I & II Pokémon not included in this list, however, if you look at the individual pages (e.g. Tauros) it lists a Hoenn Dex number. Is this page incomplete, or are the other pages innacurate? Drapion 21:49, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Typically the Hoenn Dex only goes up to 202, though all the rest also have a Hoenn dex number. I suppose this is indeed an incomplete page; the rest should be added.--Arty2 22:52, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

No, the rest are not official numbers. The numbers after 202 are there to keep Missingno.-like errors from appearing. If you look at the list after 202, all of the numbers are in National Pokédex order. Clearly, they simply piled all the rest at the end with no regard for it being seen by the player, as there is indeed no way to see these numbers during normal gameplay. Nope, it's not in the game data. Those numbers are not official, they are fan speculation. If you look at the summary that is not in the Hoenn dex, such as Lapras, before you get the national dex, they won't show a number. Where do you get your numbers from? Someone just added all the Pokemon that weren't in the Hoenn dex, put them in national order and added them after Deoxys. If you want to add all of the Pokemon after Deoxys, why not add Sinnoh Pokemon? I think the Hoenn dex numbers should be left blank.--SeanWheeler 17:23, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Catch a non-Hdex Pokémon that you don't have yet from the wild with a GameShark or Action Replay before you have the National Dex in RS. Bulbasaur will be #203. The rest follow. TTEchidna 19:26, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Johto Starters

I'm pretty sure that to get the call by Prof. Birch, you only need to catch the first 200 in the Hoenn Dex, but pages that refrence this say that you need to catch the entire Pokédex. Should there be a trivia comment or something that says that you only need to catch up till Rayquaza to get a Johto starter? Dark Boye 23:24, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

So it has to be the first 200? What I'm asking is, even with 200, including Jirachi and barring a random Pokémon (like say, Linoone), the Johto starter won't be unlocked? ^ht14 19:54, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Emerald

I know that in Emerald, no Pokemon outside the Hoenn Pokedex can be traded in until the player receives the National Pokedex. I have found it impossible to trade in a Mewtwo from Ruby, even though according to the Mewtwo page it is in the Hoenn Pokedex. Although Pokemon are hacked into the games are given a number, there is a distinct boundary between those which are in the first 202. Tk3141 19:11, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
