• The dub title is a pun on the educational product Hooked on Phonics.

Errors

• When this episode aired in America, the title card spelt Onix as Onyx. This mistake was corrected when the episode aired in the UK, and it was rightly spelled as 'Hooked on Onix'. It has also been corrected in reruns on Cartoon Network and on the DVD.
• When Phanpy gets scared from the swarm of Beedrill, its left eye is unchanged, while its right eye is white.
