Released Pokémon are Pokémon that have been caught by a Pokémon Trainer, however, is sent back into the wild. The usual reasons may be that the trainer sees it as weak (such as Damian and his Charmander) or the Pokémon has something to do that requires it to leave (such as Ash and his Butterfree). Another common reason is that the Pokémon does not listen, frustrating the Trainer. To guarantee release, some Trainers smash the Poké Balls, disallowing the Pokémon to go back into the Poké Ball (as with Jessie and her Jessie).
