Yes, all of this is true. Gary is an exception however, because he has several teams all occupying different identifiers (i.e. special stats). Regarding whether Gary has Jolteon,Vaporeon or Flareon on Pokémon Yellow that relates to another byte which will normally range from 1 to 3. It will be defined sometime in the game, so if you skip straight to Gary at the beginning of the game he will have a glitch team =D. --[[User:Chickasaurus|Chickasaurus]] 16:15, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

==Old Man glitch, reply==
A question asked by SnorlaxMaster; <!--how about with the old man glitch? is it the 2nd, 4th or 6th character, depending on which one was MN? If so this would require characters with Hex addresses of 1, 2 and 3 which would be impossible.-->
:The second, fourth and fifth and sixth characters (can follow on systematically for names like 'RED(end)JAC(end)...' from the new game screen) normally change the level of the respective wild Pokémon to match the hexadecimal identifier of that character, by respective: (i.e. level of Pokémon index number corresponding to third, fifth or seventh) character. For a trainer, those characters would change this the roster value, e.g. 'A' as the second character would make Professor Oak use his 128th team if (MN) was the third character.
:You're right, in theory, you would be able to make Professor Oak use a valid team if that second, fourth, fifth, sixth character was of identifier 01, 02 or 03, but those identfiers are never used for valid characters, so Professor Oak is always going to use an invalid roster via that method. --[[User:Chickasaurus|Chickasaurus]] 11:46, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
