Release information
In Japan, this card is part of Series 1 from the Vending Machine card collection. The English version of the card was available as a Promotional card through the Pokémon League in August 2002.
Trivia
- The card’s Japanese illustrator; Keita Takahashi, was one of those chosen to have their artwork featured on a card as part of the CoroCoro illustration competition in late 1997. Wizards of the Coast also ran an illustration competition for the English version of the card, the chosen image being the work of Craig Turvey.
Origin
Guard's Japanese name is that of Block, a move introduced in Generation III that Snorlax can learn. The card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue.
