(Japanese: あおい Aoi) is a recurring character in the anime who appeared in DP088. Her Japanese voice actor is 竹内 順子 Junko Takeuchi

She shares many personality traits with Ash, including a love of food and sleeping during class. She also developed a fierce rivalry with him, and both battled their respective Pokémon in training, resulting in a tie. Together, they also got reprimanded by Rowan and his aide several times for being troublemakers, usually because Aoi said or did something to make Ash mad.

Aoi was surprised when she discovered Ash's training style (encouraging a Pokémon after it had attacked him) and quickly adapted it into a form of training with her Monferno which, somewhat like Maylene, involved her dodging Monferno's Ember and Mach Punch attacks.

Pokémon

This is the listing of Aoi's known Pokémon:

Trivia

  • Much like Salon Maiden Anabel, Ash thought Aoi was a boy.
  • Her name in Japanese means "blue", which is a color mostly associated with boys.
