Kai Midorikawa's Charizard (Japanese: 緑川開のリザードン Kai Midorikawa's Lizardon) is the Starter Pokémon of Kai in the Pokémon Pocket Monsters manga.

History

Kai got Charizard from Professor Oak when it was a Charmander in The Pokémon Clefairy Enters. Charmander was usually with Kai every time he appeared, similar to how Clefairy and Pikachu were.

Kai enters Charmander in their first gym battle but lose horribly against Brock and his Onix.

Several chapters later, it was seen evolving (straight into the form of Charizard), but later devolved to its basic stage. However, it later evolved again, this time permanently. It has never been seen to revert to a Charmander since then. It is unknown if the second evolution was also straight to Charizard, or if Charizard had to be a Charmeleon before finally evolving to Charizard. The rules of evolution were never explained in this series.

Personality

Charizard was shown to be fierce and devious towards Clefairy (as it sees itself as Clefairy's rival) and happily obeys his every order.
