The Kanto region (Japanese: カントー Kantō) is a large area located east of Johto. Named after the real Kanto region in Japan, is the first region explored by the Generation I games Pokémon Green, Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Yellow and in the Generation III games Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen. Kanto is also accessible in the Generation II games Pokémon Gold, Pokémon Silver and Pokémon Crystal. Professor Oak is the resident Pokémon professor and gives the trainers a choice between Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle as their choice for a starter Pokémon. You start in Pallet Town and work your way through the Indigo Plateau to become the League Champion.
