At Uva Academy, the largest school in the Paldea region, Clavell teaches a crowd of students about the Treasure Hunt, an independent assignment in which students are encouraged to go out into the world and find their own "treasure." From afar, Violet talks over Clavell's speech, discussing the futility in trying to locate a specific student without knowing what they look like. When Clavell announces an exhibition match featuring Nemona, a student who successfully defeated the Pokémon League for her Treasure Hunt, Violet becomes excited.

From up on their vantage point, Violet sits with Miraidon and Rotojī, his Rotom Phone. Rotojī scolds Violet for getting distracted, trying to get him to hurry and leave. Below, at the schoolyard, Nemona is excited to begin her battle against a helmet-wearing Trainer, whom Clavell introduces as the student with the second-best battle record. Nemona and the Trainer send out Pawmi and Pikachu respectively. Arven, resting against a nearby tree, expresses his irritation at the length of the assembly, as he is impatient for the Treasure Hunt to begin.

In the school's staff room, Violet pulls up Arven's student file on a computer. Rotojī takes note of his schedule and scans his photo for his facial recognition system. Violet attempts to hurry back to the schoolyard to meet Arven, but finds himself unable to move his legs. Jacq approaches, and upon seeing Violet in his school uniform, realizes he was not an intruder like he had assumed. Jacq has his Farigiraf undo its Confusion on Violet's legs at his agitated insistence.

Jacq nervously laughs when Violet yells at him, confused as to what he was doing wrong. Rotojī points out that Jacq is a teacher at the academy, and Violet is in disbelief that someone with such a disorganized appearance would have that kind of role. When Jacq asks if Violet is truly a student, he sends out his Fuecoco as proof. Understanding that Fuecoco was given to Violet by Clavell, Jacq apologizes to him for the confusion.

Knowing that Jacq is developing a Pokédex app, Rotojī approaches him and asks if he could install it onto him. Intrigued to see a talking Rotom Phone, Jacq allows him to download the app onto himself. Jacq confirms to Violet that he heard of a new student, but reveals he did not know anything about them being royalty. Suddenly, he catches sight of the computer screen and sees Violet had used it to look up Arven's student profile. Violet quickly hops onto his Miraidon and takes off, speeding through the halls against the rules. While Rotojī panics that Violet will be suspended, Violet announces he has come up with a plan to find Arven.

Back in the schoolyard, Nemona sees her Pawmi is equally matched with Pikachu and decides to Terastallize it into an Electric type. In response, her opponent Terastallizes their Pikachu into a Flying type. As Nemona and the crowd wonder why the helmet-wearing Trainer would choose to Terastallize when it would create a disadvantage, Violet rides into the court on his Miraidon. The Instructors are unsure what to do until Jacq arrives, out of breath, and asks for someone to stop Violet.

Violet creates a challenge, saying that if anyone manages to catch him, he will accept whatever punishment they give him. Clavell tries to have a conversation with him, but Dendra eagerly accepts the challenge and takes off running. As he rides away, Violet tells Rotojī to look for Arven while he causes a commotion.

Two teachers who are each riding a Cyclizar cut off Violet. They explain that when they come across disruptive students, the best way to communicate with them is to try to see things from their perspective. This leads Violet to suggest they all race around the track five times. Again, Clavell politely attempts to have a conversation, but Dendra accepts Violet's new challenge. Riding their Pokémon, Violet and the two teachers line up at the tracks, while Dendra chooses to race on foot. Clavell announces the start of the race, and the competitors take off.

Attempting to read the Violet Book, Arven is annoyed with the noise, which he assumes is coming from Nemona's battle. Putting the book over his face, Arven falls asleep behind the tree, causing Rotojī to barely miss him in his search.

As the teachers cut in front of Violet on their Cyclizar, Rotojī comes back to him to report he was unable to locate Arven. Violet asks Rotojī for information about Cyclizar, and he opens up the Pokédex app, showing him that the Pokémon is warmed by its rider, lifting its spirit. As the Cyclizar-riding racers near a curve, Violet calls on his Fuecoco to shoot flames toward the two of them, catching their seats on fire. The Cyclizar become overexcited, and one of them runs off course and crashes into the tree Arven is resting against. After being startled awake, Arven peers behind the tree to see Violet on his Miraidon nearby.

Arven stands in front of Miraidon, stopping it in place. When he asks Violet who he is and what he is doing with Miraidon, Violet is pleased that he has finally found who he has been looking for. Alarmed, Arven asks Violet if he is connected to his father. Before he can answer, the sound of cheering interrupts him. Violet turns to see Dendra being announced the winner of the race. Clavell then asks Violet to come over and explain the situation. Upon hearing him say Violet's name, the crowd begins to chatter in confusion.

To everyone around, Violet declares that he is Paldea's "Prince of Speed," seeking to become the fastest in the region. He turns to Arven and asks him for information about Herba Mystica, as he claims he will need it to achieve his goal. Violet invites Arven to work with him, and Clavell happily informs the two that they can team up on their Treasure Hunts. Violet begins to drag off Arven to get started, but is quickly interrupted by Nemona, who appears in front of him and demands a battle.
