The Gimmighoul Coin (Japanese: コレクレーのコイン Collecurei Coin) is a TM Material in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

In the core series games

Price

Games Cost Sell price
SV N/A $200

Effect

Having 999 Gimmighoul Coins causes Gimmighoul to evolve into Gholdengo when it levels up, after which the coins are consumed.

Despite being categorized as a TM Material, the Gimmighoul Coin is not actually used to make any TMs.

Description

Games Description
SV Material accidentally dropped by a Pokémon. It seems that Gimmighoul treasure and hoard these.

SV

Defeat or catch a wild Chest Form Gimmighoul (yields 10-777)
Interact with Roaming Form Gimmighoul in the overworld (yields 1-200)[1]
Transfer a Postcard from Pokémon GO (yields 50-100)

If the player already has 999 Gimmighoul Coins in their bag, a Janitor in Medali will hold onto any additional coins the player collects. They can be received once the player has less than 999 coins.

He will store up to 4294967295 (or 2^32-1) Coins, as the value is stored as an unsigned 32-bit integer.[2] If the player somehow exceeds this limit, the value will overflow, resulting in it cycling from 4294967295 to 0.

In the spin-off games

Pokémon GO

In Pokémon GO, Gimmighoul Coins are used to evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengo. Unlike other evolution items, Gimmighoul Coins do not take up space in the player's Item Bag, and they cannot be discarded.

This item was originally called the ?????? Coin (Japanese: ??????コイン ?????? Coin) prior to February 27, 2023. It first became available on November 5, 2022, immediately following Community Day Classic: Dratini, and a day before Gimmighoul's name was officially revealed.[3]

Effect

A player can evolve a Gimmighoul into Gholdengo if they have at least 999 Gimmighoul Coins in their Item Bag. Candy is not used for this evolution, making Gimmighoul the only Pokémon in the game that evolves without Candy.

Prior to February 27, 2023, as the ?????? Coin, this item was categorized as a Key Item and served no purpose in-game. Collecting one from a golden PokéStop caused a Roaming Form Gimmighoul to appear in the overworld, but it could not be caught until February 27, 2023.
