==Effect==
A description of the move's effect. If the move's effect varies between generations, differences should be specified in subsections titled with the generation (for instance, ===Generation III===). If other moves have similar or identical effects, try to keep the wording consistent between all of them. For moves that have an effect outside of battle, please add: ===In battle=== and ===Out of battle===. If applicable, place them under the correct Generation.

A table containing the Pokémon that can learn the move through special, in-game means. If a Pokémon has a move exclusive to an in-game gift or trade (or one from a side series or spin-off gamem, such as Pokémon HOME or Pokémon Box Ruby & Sapphire), purification, or when caught in a specific place (i.e. Pokéwalker or Dream World), then that move is listed as a special move. Indicate each the generation the move it appears as a special move with a subsection (for instance, ===Generation IV===).

Moves are included here even if the Pokémon learns it by other ways if it is only learned by the following ways:

  • TM/HM/TR
  • Move Tutor
  • Egg move
  • Light Ball breeding
  • Pre-evolution-exclusive
  • Previous generation-exclusive
  • Sketch
  • Special or event move
  • Level-up move learned at a later level, (the level the Pokémon is obtained at is noted)
    • This is not included in Generation VII, where Pokémon can learn level-up moves at any level using the Move Reminder.

A table containing the Pokémon that can learn the move via Nintendo Events. If a Pokémon has a move exclusive to an event distribution or Global Link promotion, then that move is listed as an event move. Moves known by Pokémon obtained in locations, in-game events, Pokéwalker courses and Dream World areas that can only be accessed with events are not considered to be event moves. Indicate each the generation the move it appears as a special move with a subsection (for instance, ===Generation IV===).

Moves are included here even if the Pokémon learns it by other ways if it is only learned by the following ways:

  • Egg move
  • Light Ball breeding
  • Pre-evolution-exclusive
  • Previous generation-exclusive
  • Sketch
  • Special or event move
  • Level-up move learned at a later level (the level the Pokémon is obtained at is noted)
    • This is not included in Generation VII, where Pokémon can learn level-up moves at any level using the Move Reminder.

TM/HM/TR moves (Snarl, Defog, Whirlpool) and Move Tutor moves exclusive to some games within a generation are also ignored for the purposes of event moves.
