Volt Absorb (Japanese: ちくでん Electricity Storage) is an Ability introduced in Generation III. Five Pokémon have this Ability, all of which are Electric-type.

Effect

In battle

Volt Absorb heals one quarter of the user's maximum HP when hit with an Electric-type attack. Therefore, the user does not take damage from Electric-type moves. However, before Generation IV, Thunder Wave can paralyze a Pokémon with Volt Absorb without setting off the effect.

Outside of battle

Volt Absorb has no effect outside of battle.
