TV2 is a national television channel in New Zealand. It first hit the airwaves in 1975, and mainly screens programs targeted at younger viewers. It is one of three television channels in New Zealand to have broadcast the Pokémon anime.
The original series was first screened in an early morning timeslot in 1998, but airing ceased around the turn of the century. In this time, the anime was screened on rival station TV3. It returned to TV2 in 2003 and was presented daily as part of an afterschool programming block called WNTV, starting with episodes from Pokémon: Master Quest, finishing with the end of Pokémon: Advanced.
Pokémon Chronicles, Pokémon: Advanced Challenge, Pokémon: Battle Frontier, and Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl were aired once a week on Sunday mornings at 7:30am. Pokémon: Advanced Battle was skipped entirely. The show is now officially on hiatus.
