The Nintendo GameCube (officially abbreviated GCN) is Nintendo's sixth-generation console. It is a powerful system, with a compact design, 4 controller ports, a controller with an ergonomic design, small but large-capacity discs, a large game library, connectivity with the Game Boy Advance and a form of online play. In 2006, it was succeeded by Wii, which also features ports for most GameCube hardware as well as compatibility for its software.

A special version of the GameCube was released by Panasonic with the ability to play DVDs and audio CDs as well as GameCube games. It was named the Panasonic Q and was only available in Japan.

Pokémon Games

Officially Released

There are four Pokémon games available for the GameCube, as well as Super Smash Bros. Melee, which features many Pokémon as playable characters, trophies, and in Poké Balls. Additionally, all of the Pokémon games for the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance are playable on the GameCube with use of the Game Boy Player accessory.

Cancelled

One additional Pokémon game (Meowth's Party) was announced for the GameCube, but later was canceled. It was incorporated into Pokémon Channel as an episode of Pichu Bros. in Party Panic and as a Japanese ending theme in the anime.
