Wilton in Pokémon Adventures

Wilton (Japanese: ヒデノリ Hidenori), is Yellow's uncle in the Pokémon Adventures manga. He is an avid Fisherman, and taught Yellow how to fish. He also gave Yellow her Doduo, which later evolved into a Dodrio.

Wilton first appeared in PS101 on Route 32. When he was there, he met Gold, who asked him if he saw a Poké Ball that contained his Poliwag. He informed Gold of a person who had been stealing Pokémon out of trainer's hands. Ironically, as he was telling Gold this, the person snatched his Octillery's Poké Ball. Gold, using his skill of shooting Poké Balls with a billiard, hit the thief in the jaw, causing it to fall into the water, revealing that it was in fact a Granbull. They then realized that it had been stealing all the Poké Balls for attention in order to get help for its jaw, which was fixed with Gold's shot. It then gave them back the Poké Balls it had stolen. Afterward, Wilton gave Gold his Pokégear number. After Gold left, Wilton compared Yellow's fishing skills with Gold's skill with billiard.

He later appeared in PS111, where he went to Viridian City and told his niece to go to Johto. Later, in PS141, he arrives back in Johto with her. He takes the two girls to the Whirl Islands soon after. It is there that they encounter Lugia and fight it. A while later, it was revealed that he, along with Yellow, had went to Ecruteak City, where Yellow lifted the curse that was on them. When Team Rocket attacked the Pokémon Day Care on Route 34, he defended the old couple that owned it and all the Pokémon there. It is also there that he learns of the relation between Agatha, Professor Oak, the Day Care Couple, Kurt and Pryce.

Trivia

  • Wilton is based on the Fisherman trainer class.
  • In Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, there is a Fisherman named Wilton that can be found on Route 44.
  • It's possible that Wilton was the Fisherman in PS039, as that Fisherman also had a Butterfree, an oddity for that specific Trainer Class.
