Signatures on talk pages

Hi. There is nothing wrong with having the "unsigned" message after your comment on a talk page. Sure, it may look a bit silly, but if you resign then the wrong time stamp is given. Specifically, I'm referring to your actions here. It would be preferred if you didn't do it - but, of course, signing first time is best! Thanks for understanding. — THE TROM — 09:38, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Corrected.--Tmwps 18:27, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks. — THE TROM — 22:44, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, my mistake.--Tmwps 10:16, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Yo

Thanks, but no thanks. Leave other editors' spelling erorrs as written, as a testament to their inability to use the English language correctly. Just show that you can do it right in your own posts :D — THE TROM — 09:09, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Oh, right. I just find spelling errors a pet hate.--Tmwps 09:20, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, me too, but don't bother with talk pages. Use your grammatical talents in the mainspace! — THE TROM — 09:24, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Please do not edit other people's UserPages

unless you are fixing a typo that creates a wanted page, or a pedia-breaking coding error, please refrain from editing other people's pages. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 17:16, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

I thought I was correcting a typo, that's all...--Tmwps 17:19, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
Nope, I wanted it like that, and others might to, so you have to be careful. Also, please do not edit other people's messages, including the subject header. Although in this case, thank you for fixing my spelling of please. <.< The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 17:24, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
I don't like typos, grammatical or in terms of spelling, thats why I correct them.--Tmwps 17:26, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
Still, a UserPage is the property of the user. It's like a shirt. Would you change a typo on somebody's shirt? While they were wearing it? And the rule is you shouldn't edit what people say. That's a slippery slope to censorship. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 17:31, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
If there was a typo on the shirt, they'd refuse to sell it, and start again on it, hence making it less durable.--Tmwps 17:38, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, what if the typo is the joke? You know, this is all irrelevant, as long as you get not to do it again. So, no more shirt analogies? The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 17:50, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
Okay.--Tmwps 19:08, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
I thought you understood not to edit other people's comments on talk pages. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 13:30, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
I presume you saw the message above.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 13:41, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
I did, but the higher ups decided that you can't change valid messages. You can remove spam in most cases, but otherwise you have to leave it as is. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 13:44, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
What do you mean by "higher ups"?--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 13:49, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
The sysops, the Editor-in-chief. In other words, the guys and gals listed here. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 13:57, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Okay.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 14:42, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi

I noticed you have been editing the User: namespace a lot today. You may not be aware of this, but Bulbapedia has a Userspace policy that asks users to try and minimize the number of userspace edits they make in a short period of time. Instead of making multiple edits, why not use the Preview button (Alt + Shift + P) located right next to the edit button to look at your page and see how it is coming? That way, your page can look great while staying within the required amount of edits. Instead of editing the userspace, as a wiki, we encourage users to edit the mainspace. So, if you edit the mainspace more often, you will be allowed to edit the userspace more. Thanks! --The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 12:21, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

I think you'll find that I'm using a template, and I'm trying to view it. It is impossible to view how it turns out without saving it, because the transclusion isn't updated until I've saved it. But no, I wasn't aware of it, and it looks to me more like a hindrance policy, because I am not leaving something unfinished, even if I have to go over some sort of limit in order to finish it.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 12:42, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
It's more to keep the pedia from crashing due to a flood of edits to the UserSpace. And, if you read the UserSpace policy, conveniently linked in the welcome message, then you should have known about it. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 12:48, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Also, ignoring the policy is against the rules as well, so I suggest not ignoring the limit. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 12:53, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
The second sentence of Userspace policy#Warning explicitly quotes "While the definition of "excessive" is up to the person who sees this,".--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 14:04, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
And I saw it and found it excessive. You made at least 10 edits. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 14:29, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
If you're counting talk page edits, there were at least 23, not including the talk page edits, which I'm about to make several more of in order to correct a spelling mistake I made in my signature.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 14:40, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Okay Tommo

You've been told to go ask elsewhere, now do it. This is an encyclopedia. This is where you come to find information, not ask others to find it for you. Likewise, "discussion" pages are for talking about the article itself, not the subject of the article. That's why the forums exist. Go have fun over there. — THE TROM — 09:05, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Ok--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 09:24, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Yelling

you are right, people who yell are bound to encourage more yelling. although, given Lapras did yell, and i didnt, then, where does that fall, hmm? i could say, mind your own business, but i value the opinions of my fellow editors. -- MAGNEDETH 00:25, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

You didn't yell. You did, however, tell another user to shut up. While I am fully aware that Wikipedia policy has absolutely nothing to do with Bulbapedia policy, you might want to read over the policy What is a troll? on Meta wiki.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 16:34, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
at that point, Lapras had been told properly to stop spamming pages and calm down, but he/she didnt. i would never tell a user to "shut up" unless i felt like it wouldnt make the situation any worse, so dont you worry. -- MAGNEDETH 23:52, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
My standard suggestion is to tell them to be quiet before you tell them to shut up.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 07:20, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Proposal

When proposing a policy, you need to make a subpage for it first, and put this template as {{policy|policy|proposed}}. Thanks, Kevzo8 15:16, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Wow.

You're some kind of royalty? Wow. --Maxim 08:27, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

What do you mean? Are you talking about the Duchy of Effenhauer?--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 08:29, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Yeah. What does it mean, anyway? --Maxim 08:30, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Its an attempt at reviving a Duchy that was forgotten to the history books. Most of the history's over on the senior site, so you may want to have a look at the grand hall, the flags and all that malarkey.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 08:35, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Hey

Last warning. I don't care if it's under license. Other people's userpages are their property. Don't touch, even for a spelling mistake. It's official, it's in the userspace policy. No touchy. — THE TROM — 10:18, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

I've just thought of something. If I point it out to the user who made the typo in the first place, would there be a problem with that?--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 10:33, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Talk page I guess. tc²₆tc26 10:41, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Sorry I can't understand what you mean.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 10:52, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Talk on the page instead of editing it yourself. Don't just point it out after, let's say, editing the page. tc²₆tc26 10:55, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh, yeah, so ask that user first. Well I suppose it would be ridiculous to inform a user of a mistake they made eight years ago.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 10:58, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Just make sure the user is active before doing that. No point if inactive anyway. tc²₆tc26 11:03, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
How can I watchlist a user rather than a page?--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 11:08, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Special:Contributions. But really, you need to spend more time focusing on developing the encyclopedia, rather than pointing out that some of our users can't spell. A lot of our users are children who don't know better yet, so don't patronise them about their shoddy typing. — THE TROM — 11:25, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
I can't watch a page in the [[Special:]] namespace. Also, you may want to note the edit I made to the top of the page.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 11:28, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
You seriously don't understand how this works, do you? Firstly, you don't watch that page. You put people's usernames in the box and you see when/where/what/why they edit. Secondly, it is a binding policy on Bulbapedia that you stuff off of other people's pages. If you didn't read the link I put a few lines up, then allow me to repeat that unless someone's page is breaking the Bulbapedia, NO ONE TOUCHES IT. That means you. That means me. That means the owner of the server we run on. Got it? — THE TROM — 11:33, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
What box?--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 11:34, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Did you follow that link either? Go to the your contributions page (I assume you know where that is) and change your name to someone else's. Recent edits means active. Ancient edits means don't hold your breath waiting for a reply. — THE TROM — 11:37, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
So the contribs page is Special:Contributions/Tmwps, so if I try, for example, Special:Contributions/Kevzo8, that should work a treat.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 11:40, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes. But seriously: if all you do here is bitch about people's spelling on their personal pages, I will not hesitate to give you a temporary block. Policy is policy after all. — THE TROM — 11:42, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
First, you're the one who edited the userspace policy so that I can't remove the typos. Secondly, "bitching" about other peoples spelling won't be all I'll be doing; even as this conversation was going on I was making edits to the mainspace, albeit not very many.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 11:51, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Yep, I did. But hey, you know what? I'd already told you hands off - and so did the Dark Fiddler. Please, stop making such a huge deal out of this. Nothing bad will happen if people's userpages look like crap. — THE TROM — 12:01, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Given that the primary objective - to flood the recent changes - has been completed, I don't see why not.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 12:04, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Now when people look at the RC they can say "wow, that kid really needs to follow the rules and listen to administrators", and instead of this being a little issue that was just between you and trom, its now something that everyone will look at.--RexRacer 12:10, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Probably, given that this is at least the thirtieth edit in such a short time to the same page.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 12:13, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Probably. R.A. Hunter Blade 15:15, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Really now...

You might want to read this little message before offering to do edits on behalf of someone. Especially if you're going to help someone get around userspace revocation, or a ban. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 01:43, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, wasn't aware.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 09:18, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

For a person that hates misspellings...

Gee, for being yelled at so many times for correcting spelling errors on other people's pages, you have an error on your own site. You misspelled patronize as patronise. Even the best make mistakes. By the way, feel free to pore over my Userpage as much as you please, you won't find a single spelling error. Have fun. PhoenixGraphix 06:33, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Patronise is the English spelling, whilst patronize is the American way. Sorry if I got this wrong, but lemme get this straight - you are inviting me to pore over your userpage? Okay...--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 09:37, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
It would be proper etiquette to use patronize rather than patronise, as the United States makes up more than four times as much of the English Speaking population as the United Kingdom. Therefore, four times more American-dialect speakers will visit your page than those of the United Kingdom dialect. Oh, and by the way, English and American should be capitalized in your above post. PhoenixGraphix 13:46, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
That would be a grammatical error rather than a spelling mistake. Btw, Tmwps, do you liek Mudkipz?--Clarky13 13:51, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
He just said that he liked to remove typos, not just correct spelling. I liek Mudkipz. PhoenixGraphix 15:14, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
I corrected the grammatical crap. Oh, and Clarky, I do not liek Mudkipz; I prefer Swampert. Where the hell did that erect from? Also, seeing as you invited me to, I did find three errors on your user page, which I corrected for you (its spelt variants not varaints).--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 16:06, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I apologize for misspelling three words in my entire Userpage. I doubt that you have a twentieth of the amount of text I have on my Userpage on yours. Plus I type really fast, and I know how to spell thank you. And patronize is still spelled with a "z". PhoenixGraphix 19:56, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Linking Pokémon articles

Hey! Whenever you link a Pokémon article, you need to use the {{p}} template, otherwise you'll leave behind a redirect. You've been here longer than me; you should already know this. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 08:02, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

Cup Pages

Heya, sorry it took so long to get back to you. I discussed the Cup pages with a fellow admin and we decided the pages are fine. Feel free to move them back or you can wait til I have time later in the day to move them, will delete the current Cup pages to make room for your updated ones. Thanks for being patient. Frozen Fennec 16:32, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

I personally prefer the Cup pages in their current formats. I think it's more fitting to sort them by Cup rather than by Round. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 17:47, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
