You are not this Pokémon, you can't use Future Sight. Don't add stuff about the future! This article is about a current event. The article's contents may change as the event progresses and more information becomes available. Please be cautious when adding information to this article, as rumors and speculation often get confused with fact; avoid any information on this subject which is not confirmed by reliable sources.

Reason: More information for UB-03 and 04

The Ultra Beasts (Japanese: ウルトラビースト Ultra Beast) are a group of extradimensional creatures originating from Ultra Space that appear in Pokémon Sun and Moon. They are believed to possess great power and pose a threat to humans and normal Pokémon. The Aether Foundation is conducting research on them, referring to each of them by a code name, while the International Police are hard at work trying to track down the Ultra Beasts before their extreme power can cause any harm. There are currently seven known Ultra Beasts. Several of the Ultra Beasts appear in groups as large as four, indicating that there are large populations of these creatures in their plane of origin. Later in the game, it was revealed that Cosmog is a Ultra Beast as well as its evolved forms.

Ultra Beasts are especially dangerous to those who have previously entered the Ultra Space, as they mistake the residual energy from Ultra Space remaining on these people as a possible route back to their own dimension, becoming hostile upon discovering that it is not.

Due to Ultra Beasts originating from another dimension, Poké Balls other than the Beast Ball cannot properly recognize them, all acting like a standard Poké Ball when used against them. The Beast Ball was specifically designed to catch Ultra Beasts, so is more likely to catch them.

List of Ultra Beasts

UB-01 Symbiont

UB-01 Symbiont

UB-01 Symbiont (Japanese: UB01 PARASITE), later referred to as Nihilego, is a translucent creature, whose body is made out of a glass-like substance. Although it is shown to look somewhat like a jellyfish, it constantly changes shapes, and never settles on one.

While evidence of something like a survival instinct can be observed in UB-01, no one knows whether it has a will of its own or any emotions. It’s said that, for some reason, its movements resemble those of a young girl.

Nihilego is somewhat of a parasite, injecting a neurotoxin into its host that manipulates their thoughts and actions. This neurotoxin that stimulates intense feelings of excitement in the host and boosts the host's skills to a great extent.

UB-02

There are two entities with the codename of UB-02. The one that appears in the story depends on the game played.

UB-02 Absorption
UB-02 Beauty

UB-02 Absorption

UB-02 Absorption (Japanese: UB02 EXPANSION), later called Buzzwole, appears in Pokémon Sun. Its entire body is covered with bulging, powerful muscles, allowing it to deliver extremely powerful punches. Its long, silver mouth is believed to be harder than diamond. It frequently strikes an intimidating posture and has enough power to rend vehicles into pieces.

UB-02 Beauty

UB-02 Beauty (Japanese: UB02 BEAUTY), which is later called Pheromosa, appears in Pokémon Moon. Its thin, slender legs allow it to move at incredible speed. It is believed to be able to dodge lightning. It is said that any Pokémon that sees UB-02 Beauty, regardless of gender, will become infatuated with it and lose the will to battle. The exact reason for this reaction is unknown.

UB-03 Lighting

UB-03 Lighting

UB-03 Lighting (Japanese: UB03 LIGHTNING). It is called Xurkitree in the Pokédex. It is thought to energize itself with electricity and can create electric shocks on its body. It has an organ that can generate electricity and can discharge millions of volts. When it is low on electricity it plugs its tail into the ground, acts as a tree, and absorbs power from the earth.

UB-04

Similarly to UB-02, there are two entities with the codename of UB-04. The one that appears in the story depends on the game played.

UB-04 Blade
UB-04 Blaster

UB-04 Blade

UB-04 Blade (Japanese: UB04 SLASH), called Kartana in the Pokédex, appears in Pokémon Sun. Each edge of its body is extremely sharp, especially its arms, and it can cut down steel buildings with one slash. Because of its paper-like composure, it can easily dodge attacks, but is vulnerable to fire.

UB-04 Blaster

UB-04 Blaster (Japanese: UB04 BLASTER), which is later called Celesteela, appears in Pokémon Moon. It can fly at high speeds and can burn down entire forests with the gas that comes out of its arms. This flammable gas also can lift UB-04 Blaster into the air. It is much like a plant and can absorb nutrients from the ground.

UB-05 Glutton

UB-05 Glutton

UB-05 Glutton (Japanese: UB05 GLUTTONY), called Guzzlord by the Pokédex, is characterized by its voracious appetite. It is believed to be able to devour the ground, rivers, and seas. Despite this, it does not produce any waste, leading some to speculate it converts everything it eats to energy to sustain itself.

Game mechanics

Ultra Beasts all have the Ability Beast Boost. Additionally, when an Ultra Beast is encountered in the wild, it gets a sudden stat increase at the start of the battle, like a Totem Pokémon.

If a wild Ultra Beast is defeated in battle, it can still be encountered again in the same area and re-fought. The player must catch all of the Ultra Beasts in an area in order to continue.

All Poké Balls except the Beast Ball have a catch rate multiplier of 1× against Ultra Beasts; the Beast Ball has a catch rate multiplier of 5× for Ultra Beasts, whereas this multiplier is 0.1× for all other Pokémon.

Each Ultra Beast has a base stat total of exactly 570.

Trivia

  • The Ultra Beasts who share the same code number share at least one type, and do not share types with any of the other Ultra Beasts.
  • The base stats of the Ultra Beasts and the levels at which they learn moves (except level 1) are all prime numbers.
