Pokémon USA is responsible for producing trading cards, the Pokémon anime, games and merchandise for USA and English speaking countries. Pokémon USA also owns and operates the Pokémon Center.

History

Pokémon USA in 2003 canceled the licence with Wizards of the Coast for the Pokémon trading cards. This shock many people, but later on it was the best choice for many fans.

Recently in 2006, Pokémon USA took merchandising licence away from 4Kids Entertainment and switched to inhouse dubbing at TAJ Productions which have done work with Pokémon before. The most controversal change Pokémon USA have done is recasting of the voice actors.

Pokémon USA on May 2006 made negotiations with Cartoon Network to air Pokémon on Cartoon Network. Some opposed the decidion because Cartoon Network's rating will go down if Pokémon aired with the new voice actors. Dispite the complainments, the deal went through on May 8, 2006.

Criticisms

Mirage Special

Pokémon USA is under fire after the special was aired. Pokémon USA was accused of telling lies that they couldn't use the old voice actors because there was contract issues, which isn't true because the orginal voice actors state that theres no contract issue and that they could work on the dub for Pokémon USA.

Pokémon USA revealed that they will redub the Mirage Special with improved voices. This redub will be availiable on the 8th movie DVD.

Hiring of Inexperienced Voice Actors

Revealed at the Comic Con|Comic Con, the new voice actor for Ash Ketchum would be Sarah Natochenny, which had no experience in Anime dubbing. Many fans criticized Pokémon USA for the choice they made because they were hiring unexperienced voice actors.
