A commonly hacked Pokémon: Shiny Arceus with the ??? Plate.

The term "Pokémon Hack" or simply hack, is a popular term among fans. It refers to Pokémon that have been cheated into the game. This includes getting the Pokémon via a GameShark, Action Replay, etc.

Semi-Hack

A semi-hack is usually associated with Event items that have been hacked into the game via a third party software to obtain a certain Pokémon.

Reasons For Hacking

Hacking usually is looked down upon by most players as being unfair and cheating. There are several reasons for hacks.

  • To speed up the training process by giving the Pokémon difficult to attain IVs and EV training the Pokémon.
  • To scam others out of their legitimate Pokémon.
  • To say that the player has a very rare Pokémon.
