NegaiShipping is the belief that Ash Ketchum and Iris belong in a romantic relationship. The ship is relatively new and doesn't have much evidence to support it because of it.

Evidence

Iris's hints

  • As soon as they meet each other, Iris displayed some fury about Ash mistake her with a pokemon, but calmed down right after Ash's apologize. While hugging pikachu, knowing Ash is new in Isshu, Iris happily tries to greet him, but pikachu shocks her out;
  • Shamed with Ash's over-excitment about trying to catch an Isshu pokemon and failing, Iris starts with her "what a child" (kodomo ne) antic;
  • When Team Rocket steals kibago and pikachu, Iris tried to reach their ballon climbing a tree, but Ash's faster, letting Iris in awe. However, Ash fails and fall hardly in to the ground. Iris instantly goes to his side, worried with him;
  • Some time after, at Pokemon Center, Iris recognize Ash is "a little good" and thanks him for saving kibago;
  • Iris start to follow Ash, saying that, since Ash is a "child" and isn't familiar with Isshu, she thought could be good get along with him. On the other, she doesn't give a better reason to follow Ash;
  • When Ash almost fall on a boiled water lake, Iris instantly pass the meguroko bridge and grab his hand unhesitatingly.

Ash's hints

  • When Team Rocket grabbed kibago and pikachu, Ash tried his best to get back his and Iris pokemon, almost hurting himself in the process;

Other hints

  • Ash have a love/hate relationship with Iris, somewhat similar to his relationship with Misty;
  • Curiously, both Iris and Misty are gym leaders (despite Iris is not confirmed for now) and have a bossy attitude with Ash;
  • Iris have some tsundere antics, since she mocks Ash constantly with her "what a child" saying, but still get worried about him;
  • While pikachu don't look like too fond about Iris, kibago haven't any problem with Ash, and even followed him to the sand bath treatment.

Name origin

  • Negai is from the Japanese characters 願い (negai) to mean 'wish' (in terms of 'desire,' 'prayer,' or 'request'). It is used as an alternate name over Template:S, after the series titles "Best Wishes."
