| James bought Hoppip from the [[Magikarp Salesman]] in ''[[AG084|Who's Flying Now?]]''. It was painted to look like a {{p|Chimecho}}, which James had wanted since he was a child. James recognized the salesman, but he was able to convince James that he had turned over a new leaf and was now an honest person. Believing him, James bought the Hoppip in disguise.

| When he showed it to [[Jessie]] and [[Meowth (Team Rocket)|Meowth]], they were less than impressed with the Chimecho. Meowth immediately realized it was a fake, and when it started falling apart, James rubbed it with a rag. All the paint came off, and the Chimecho was revealed to be a fake. Before James could do anything, the Hoppip floated away, never to be seen again.
