The fifth generation of Pokémon, recently revealed, is the upcoming fifth installment of the Pokémon series. Like previous generations, it begins with two games, Pokémon Black and White, released as a pair, and will possibly later be joined by a third version. In an unprecedented move, Black and White have been announced for the Nintendo DS, the same as Generation IV's five main series games.
It is currently unknown what region Black and White will take place in, though the announcement heralding their release revealed that the games will explore new areas, with the hope that they will surpass Pokémon Diamond and Pearl in quality, indicating that a new region is on its way. The temporal setting for the Generation V games is also unknown, as it may or may not be contemporaneous with any of the previous four generations.
Currently known Pokémon
In general, Generation V Pokémon begin their National Pokédex numbers at 494 and continue to a point that is as of this time unknown.
Currently, two Generation V Pokémon are known. A silhouette, revealed on the February 7, 2010 episode of Pokémon Sunday, was later revealed to be the Pokémon Zoroark, a Template:Type2 Pokémon that debuts in the thirteenth movie. Its full form was revealed shortly afterward by CoroCoro, alongside its pre-evolutionary form Zorua. Both are canine Pokémon, causing many to draw similarities between the two as well as the Vulpix, Poochyena, and Riolu evolution families.
