* As the GS Cup rules are exclusive to {{2v2|HeartGold|SoulSilver}}, GS (like the [[GS Ball]]) may stand for "Gold and Silver".
* The [[2010 World Championships#Brackets (Video Game World Championships)|2010 Pokémon Video Game Championship]] only uses {{2v2|HeartGold|SoulSilver}} versions as they are the only versions that have the GS Cup rule set and were released in 2010, the same year as the VGC.
