Friend and Foe Alike (Japanese: セキエイスタジアム!VSヒロシ! Sekiei Stadium! VS Hiroshi!) is episode 79 of the Pokémon anime. It was first broadcast in Japan on January 14, 1999 and in the United States on November 27, 1999.
Synopsis
Major events
- Ash and Ritchie have to go against each other in the next round.
- Ash loses which means he ends up in the top 16 of the Pokemon League.
* Ritchie's Butterfree which he nicknamed "Happy" defeats Ash's Squirtle with Sleep Powder. * Ash's Pikachu defeats Ritchie's Butterfree with an electric attack. * Ritchie sends out his Charmander which he nicknamed "Zippo" and defeats Ash's Pikachu after several Flamethrowers which didn't quite hit then a Tackle. * Ash sends out Charizard and after numerous Flamethrowers, Ritchie recalls his Charmander. * Ritchie sends out his Pikachu which he nicknamed "Sparky" and Charizard refused to battle because he thought that Pikachu wasn't worth fighting.
