Perhaps because of their strong-smelling pollen, other Pokémon do not approach areas where Vileplume live.

Trivia

  • This card's Pokémon Power when used in tandem with Brock's Ninetales' Shapeshift Pokémon Power was widely exploited in Japanese leagues and tournaments before an errata was issued that prevented Pokémon Powers from being used when using Brock's Ninetales' Shapeshift Pokémon Power.
  • The non-holographic version of this card incorrectly has a Fighting Weakness.

Origin

Hay Fever is similar to Mold Breaker, an ability that Vileplume cannot have in the Pokémon game. Petal Whirlwind appears to be based on Petal Dance, a move in the Pokémon games that Vileplume can learn.
