The Cover Fossil (Japanese: ふたのカセキ Lid Fossil) and Plume Fossil (Japanese: はねのカセキ Wing Fossil) are fossils from the Generation V games, Pokémon Black and White.

Like Generations I and III, the player can once again choose which fossil they want to get in each game. The fossils are found in Relic Castle, where they will be offered by one of the Backpackers in the first floor of the ruins. One can be chosen, and the other will be kept by the Backpacker.

The fossils can be revived with the Pokémon being at level 25 by being given to one of the receptionists in the Nacrene City Museum. The Cover Fossil is able to be regenerated into Tirtouga and the Plume Fossil is able to be regenerated into Archen.

The item description for the Cover Fossil states "A fossil of an ancient Pokémon that lived in the sea in ancient times" and the item description for the Plume Fossil states "A fossil of an ancient Pokémon that flew in the sky in ancient times. It appears to be part of its wing."

Trivia

While item description for the Plume Fossil states "A fossil of an ancient Pokémon that flew in the sky in ancient times. It appears to be part of its wing" but the backpacker who gives the fossils mentions that the Plume Fossil is of a Pokémon that lived in an ancient forest, but it couldn't fly.
