The Aquapolis print includes a Dot Code strip for use with the e-Reader, and has the card ID D-44-#. The short strip contains a brief card summary. There is no long strip for this card.
Release information
This card was included in the Aquapolis expansion with artwork by Mikio Menjo, first released in the Japanese Wind from the Sea expansion. It was reprinted in the EX Ruby & Sapphire expansion with new artwork by Ken Ikuji, first released in the Japanese Mudkip Constructed Starter Deck. This print was later included in the EX FireRed & LeafGreen, EX Unseen Forces, EX Power Keepers expansions, Japanese World Champions Pack expansion and in many Japanese Half Decks. It was reprinted in the Diamond & Pearl expansion with new artwork by Ryo Ueda, first released in the Japanese Space-Time Creation expansion. This print was later included in the Stormfront expansion and in several Japanese Half Decks. Energy Switch was reprinted again in the HeartGold & SoulSilver expansion with new artwork by Wataru Kawahara, first released in the Japanese HeartGold Collection. It was also included in the HS Trainer Kit. The Japanese release of this print was reclassified as an Item card, but the English did not adopt this name until its release in the Black & White expansion, first released in the Beginning Set, with new artwork by Kent Kanetsuna. This print was later reprinted in the Legendary Treasures expansion, first released in the Japanese Mewtwo vs Genesect Deck Kit.
Energy Switch was again reprinted in the Furious Fists expansion with new artwork by 5ban Graphics, first released as one of several Japanese XY-P Promotional cards that became available in a number of different card boxes. These included the Xerneas & Yveltal Card Box, released on December 13, 2013, the Primal Groudon & Primal Kyogre Card Box, released on December 13, 2014, and the Mega Mewtwo X & Mega Mewtwo Y Card Box, released on September 26, 2015. The Japanese Emerald Break expansion included a Secret print of Energy Switch, which was later printed in the English Roaring Skies expansion. The Furious Fists print was subsequently released as part of the English Generations expansion and in the Japanese BREAK Starter Pack.
Energy Switch was reprinted again during the Sun & Moon Series in the Sun & Moon expansion with new artwork by Ryo Ueda, first released in the Japanese Sun & Moon Starter Set. It was reprinted in the Celestial Storm expansion, first released in the Japanese Champion Road subset with the artwork by Ken Ikuji originally printed in the EX Ruby & Sapphire expansion. In Japan, the Sun & Moon print was later reprinted in the Thunderclap Spark subset, in 2 of the GX Starter Decks, in the Tag Team GX Premium Trainer Box, and in the Remix Bout subset.
Energy Switch was reprinted again during the Sword & Shield Series as part of the Sword & Shield expansion, first released in the Japanese V Starter Set Water. This print has new artwork by Toyste Beach. It was reprinted in the Japanese Sword & Shield Premium Trainer Box.
