Ash Catches a Pokémon! (Japanese: ポケモンゲットだぜ！), was the third episode of the Pokémon anime. It was first broadcast in Japan on April 15, 1997 and in USA on September 10, 1998.
Summary
Ash and Misty travel through Viridian Forest, where Ash makes his very first capture.

Ash and Misty head into Viridian Forest, where Ash effortlessly captures a Caterpie, to which Misty shows her complete dismay. The next morning Ash, with the help of Pikachu capture a Pidgeotto. Team Rocket then attack the party and defeat Pikachu and Pidgeotto, in a last ditch effort, Ash sends out Caterpie who gets rid of Team Rocket. Caterpie then evolves into a Metapod after it's victory.

- This is the first episode where type advantages are spoke about, Flying types are effective against Bug types.
- A real animal appears in this episode, as Pidgeotto is seen eating a regular worm.
