Energy cards are the cards that power Pokémon attacks in the Pokémon Trading Card Game. They come in Basic and Special forms.
Basic Energy cards are the nine Energy cards that share their types with Pokémon. Most often, a Pokémon of a specific type will use attacks that require the same type of energy, but not always. Basic Energy cards can only provide Energy in their printed type or Colorless.
The Basic Energy cards are as follows:
- Grass Energy
- Fire Energy
- Water Energy
- Lightning Energy
- Fighting Energy
- Psychic Energy
- Colorless Energy
- Darkness Energy
- Metal Energy
Special Energy cards are any other Energy cards that do not provide the basic nine in their natural state, provide more than one, or have an added effect in addition to providing Energy. Often, these Energy cards will provide only Colorless Energy if there is an affect associated with them.
