This page is about the trainer class. For the glitch type, see Pokémaniac (type).

A PokéManiac (Japanese: かいじゅうマニア Monster Maniac) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that first debuted in the Generation I games. They were originally presented as strange boys with long hair in trenchcoats. In Generation III, they were changed so that they became cosplayers dressing up in Charizard costumes.

They raise many different Pokémon, although all of them tend to appear reptilian in physiology - such as Lairon, Lickitung and Charmander.

Notable PokéManiacs

Bill and his father are commonly referred to as PokéManiacs.

In Pokémon Gold and Silver, Mania, a PokéManiac from Cianwood City, is well known in port towns for his arrogance. Hearing of this, Silver stole one of his two Pokémon, a Sneasel. When Gold visited the city, Mania begged him to take Shuckie, his Shuckle, for safekeeping. (Depending on how well Shuckie is treated, Mania may or may not ask for him to be given back.)
