The Aquapolis print includes a Dot Code strip for use with the e-Reader, and has the card ID D-44-#. The short strip contains a brief card summary. There is no long strip for this card.

This card was included in the Aquapolis expansion with artwork by Mikio Menjo, first released in the Japanese Wind from the Sea expansion. It was reprinted in the EX Ruby & Sapphire expansion with new artwork by Ken Ikuji, first released in the Japanese Mudkip Constructed Starter Deck. This print was later included in the EX FireRed & LeafGreen, EX Unseen Forces, EX Power Keepers expansions, Japanese World Champions Pack expansion and in many Japanese Half Decks. It was reprinted in the Diamond & Pearl expansion with new artwork by Ryo Ueda, first released in the Japanese Space-Time Creation expansion. This print was later included in the Stormfront expansion and in several Japanese Half Decks. Energy Switch was reprinted again in the HeartGold & SoulSilver expansion with new artwork by Wataru Kawahara, first released in the Japanese HeartGold Collection. It was also included in the HS Trainer Kit. The Japanese release of this print was reclassified as an Item card, but the English did not adopt this name until its release in the Black & White expansion, first released in the Beginning Set, with new artwork by Kent Kanetsuna. This print was later reprinted in the Legendary Treasures expansion, first released in the Japanese Mewtwo vs Genesect Deck Kit.
