Side Mission 081: Pancham the Courier
Speak to Andi to start the battle. She will join you on your side of the battle and has a Pancham and a Gogoat. You will be battling against a level 52 Aggron, Abomasnow and Hippowdon. You’ll be rewarded with $1200, 2 x Lumiose Galette and a Lemonade for winning.
Side Mission 082: Clauncher Launching Water Gun
Teach a Pokémon the move Water Gun – anyone that can learn it will do – and stand on the platform below the Clauncher. Lock onto the sludge and clear it using this move, the man won’t let you use any other move even though they would also work. For completing the quest you’ll receive $1500, 3 x Pearl, and a Big Pearl.
Side Mission 083: Honedge’s Cutting Edge
For this mission you will need a Pupitar. You can find Larvitar by entering Wild Zone 15 from the rooftop. You will need to unlock the Holovator to the southwest of the zone, and travel to the roof. Then break the cocoon to walk over to the entrance. Here the Larvitar are level 42 so you can immediately evolve them into Pupitar.
You need to change your team so that you only have Pupitar in your party, so put all other Pokémon in your boxes. Then talk to the boy to battle. His Honedge is level 52 so it makes for a formidable opponent for a single Pupitar. We taught our’s Earthquake, Crunch, Curse and Protect. Start the battle by using Protect on the Iron Head and follow it up with Curse. Make sure you always Protect when it uses Iron Head as this is the one attack that can deal significant damage. You’ll receive $1000, a Dusk Stone and 2 x Hyper Potion for winning.
Side Mission 084: Strike First to Make ‘Em Flinch!
Talk to the trainer again to battle them. He has a level 52 Sharpedo and Arbok and a level 53 Gyarados. The gimmick is that his Pokémon hold a King’s Rock and use flinching moves like Waterfall. You’ll receive $2800 and a King’s Rock for winning.
Side Mission 085: Follow Litwick!
As the title suggests, starting off this quest you need to follow the Litwick. It hasn’t gone far, but will move further and further away. Turn on guidance to make this task easier. It will eventually lead you into the sewers. You will find a girl in the room at the far end of the sewer. Approach her to complete the mission and earn $1300 and a Life Orb.
Side Mission 086: Who Messed Up the Garden?
Investigate the hole in front of the Rust Syndicate Office. Follow the path of holes leading away from the office. You should always be able to see the next hole from the previous one. They lead to a hole just south of Wild Zone 10, on a triangular patch of grass, next to some scaffolding. Investigate this hole and a level 53 Drilbur will pop out and battle you.
Return to the Rust Syndicate Office to talk to the grunt again to complete the mission. You’ll be rewarded with $2000, a Weakness Policy, and 3 x Adamant Mint.
Side Mission 087: Becoming a Peerless Furfrou Trimmer
Use the move Psycho Cut on the Substitute doll. Kadabra found in Wild Zone 9 already have this move in their learn set. Completing the task will open up all Furfrou styles in the shop and will also reward you with $2400, a Max Revive and 2 x Exp. Candy L.
Side Mission 088: The Nervous Novice Cabbie
Talk to the cabbie again to start the mission. Ask her to take you to Magenta Pokémon Center as she doesn’t know how to get to anywhere else. You can offer to pay her or not, it doesn't make a difference; the trip costs $710 if you decide to pay though.
She will then challenge you to a battle. Talk to her again to start the fight. She has a level 53 Emolga and Excadrill and a level 54 Lopunny. Her gimmick is that she sets up Agility whenever her speed isn’t raised. This will end the mission and you’ll be rewarded with $4500, TM047 Agility and 10 x Swift Feather.
Side Mission 089: Up, Up, and Away After Emolga!
Chase the Emolga over the rooftops turning on guidance if you are not sure where it went. Once you chase it onto the scaffolding it will fight you. It’s level 53. After it’s been defeated you can also catch it. You’ll receive $2000, 8 x Kelpsy Berry, 8 x Pomeg Berry and 8 x Tamato Berry.
Side Mission 090: Froslass’s Unfinished Business
Talk to the tree to start the mission, this will release a Froslass that you need to follow. Turn on guidance if you're not sure where to go next. When you reach the end she will leave $400 and a Dawn Stone.
Side Mission 091: Dragon You into Battle
Talk to the trainer again to start the battle. The gimmick of this fight is that she only uses Dragon- type Pokémon and they are all holding a Dragon Fang to boost the power of their Dragon-type moves. This means that Fairy-types are perfect for this fight, even though they do carry coverage moves.
She has a level 47 Gabite, a level 48 Shelgon, and a level 49 Dragonair. Once she's been defeated you'll be rewarded with $5000, a Dragon Fang and 5 x Haban Berry.
Side Mission 092: The Beldum Blockade
Talk to the group of Beldum to start the battle. You will be taking on all four at once, but they are vulnerable to an area of effect Ground-type move like Earthquake. Once defeated the Holovator will become functional and you'll receive $3000, a Rocky Helmet and a Full Restore.
Side Mission 093: Finding a Place for Heliolisk
The man will ask for you to find a very specific apartment for them to live in. It must be near Prism Tower, the Saison Canal, Cafés, and a Poké Center. It also needs tables and umbrellas on the roof. Climb on the roof of the building on the south side of Magenta Street near the west side of the canal and tower. There is a long ladder to the top. You'll receive $4000, a Sun Stone and 2 x Exp. Candy M for helping out.
Side Mission 094: Full Course of Battles: Three Stars
This is by far the most difficult fight we’ve faced and you will need to be extremely prepared if you want to succeed. There is no punishment for losing - you can still re-enter for free - and you'll be able to keep the levels you earned, so it's worth trying just to see what you're up against.
All Pokémon are level 55 and you will be facing 30 in a row with no opportunity to heal. The Pokémon all have items, and many use attacks to set up later teams for success. The first trainer has Victreebel, Scolipede, and Garbodor, and all of them will try to use Toxic. You need to use a Steel- or Poison-type to counter this or your Pokémon will not have enough health to make it to the end of the ten battles.
The next trainer has Camerupt, Talonflame, and Pyroar equipped with powerful recoil moves and a Shell Bell. While they aren't too difficult to take down they will likely be able to deal heavy damage to your team in just a few moves. Next is Carbink, Clefable and Gardevoir, all of which set up screens making them hard to defeat. A move like Brick Break or Psychic Fangs will make them want to set up screens continuously instead of dealing damage.
Avalugg, Sableye and Noivern all hold a Rocky Helmet and have Recover. Using a physical attacker will quickly drain your health so you need a special attacker - Fairy-types are particularly effective to take them down. Next up are Kangaskhan, Gengar, and Steelix are strong attackers with perfect type coverage and diversity.
The next trainer has Scizor, Lucario and Aegislash, and they all have two different protecting moves. They will use Protect, Detect or King’s Shield on any damaging move, so you need to time when you use your strongest ones. The Aerodactyl, Starmie, and Froslass fight is all about speed, with Aerodactyl carrying a Quick Claw and Froslass opening with Icy Wind. Make sure that your team can take some hits from these Pokémon as they will likely attack last.
Arbok, Gogoat and Roserade all use Leech Seed to stay healthy so they need to be taken down with burst damage. The next set is Gyarados, Dragalge and Dragonite, and they all have Life Orbs to hit harder and pick off your weakened Pokémon. Finally, you'll face Drampa, Skamory and Mega Tyranitar, and this final Pokémon is capable of one-shotting so many ‘mons.
If you manage to make it through you'll earn $2000, TM045 Knock Off, 5 x HP Up, and 5 x Carbos.
Side Mission 095: A Haunting Experience
You can only start the battle when you have exclusively Ghost-type Pokémon in your party. Talk to the woman again to battle her. She has a level 57 Trevenant, Gourgeist, Sableye, and Gengar and they are all holding Spell Tags. She gives you $4444 and a Spell Tag for winning.
Side Mission 096: Let Us Battle… Artistically
Talk to her to fight. She has a level 57 Carbink, Haunter, Onix, Vaniluxe, Garbodor and Gourgeist. They will all use Self-Destruct or Explosion on the first turn of battle except for her last Pokémon. Simply run around the edges of the court in order to avoid the blast and claim the knock out. She rewards you with $1900, TM048 Self Destruct and 2 x Bottle Cap.
Side Mission 097: Stop the Runaway Whirlipede
Chase the Whirlipede down the street and talk to it to start the battle. It's level 59. Once defeated you'll receive $3900, 3 x Repeat Ball and 3 x Quick Ball.
Side Mission 098: Jumbo Variety Pumpkaboo
Find the woman a Jumbo Variety Pumpkaboo and she won't accept an alpha. You can catch Pumpkaboo in Wild Area 15 any time. Unlike Gogoat you can't tell the variety of Pumpkaboo from the size in the summary menu. Instead, you need to listen to the sounds of the cries. The easiest way to do this is in the summary menu as there are several Pumpkaboo in the Wild Zone at the same time. The Jumbo Pumpkaboo will have a far deeper cry than the others.
If you think you have one, talk to the woman and it will highlight any Jumbo Variety Pumpkaboo you have. You won't get your pumpkin back, but you’ll receive $6000, 5 x Seed of Mastery and 2 x Rare Candy.
Side Mission 099: Pleasing Aron’s Palate
Use the move Sludge Bomb on the metal in order to make the woman happy. You can grab the TM053 for Sludge Bomb by hitting research level 32. Some Pokémon also learn it naturally. She'll reward you with $3500, 5 x Zinc and a Power Band.
Side Mission 100: Starmie on High
Add a Starmie to your party and return to the steps at night. Staryu is common in Wild Zone 2 and you just need a Water Stone to evolve it. You can purchase one at the Stone Emporium. Alternatively, Starmie is a rare spawn in Wild Zone 16 at night. You'll receive $2800, an Eviolite and a Big Pearl for taking part in the event. If you go in front of the fountain in Wild Zone 16 you can also pick up a Moon Stone from the shooting star.
