Quotes from Masters

Hi, I've noticed you've been editing Quotes sections for some characters in Masters. I assume you used audio clips for this, something like Absol-utely's YouTube video. While it's great to fill in voice clips, please note that you can't determine where one voice clip ends and another starts, as you can see with log-in conversations on Lucas's page - your variant was drastically different from what they actually are. You can leave filling Random/log-in/gift conversations to me; I use text dumps, much easier and precise than listening to the audio. You can notice that newer pairs have only three log-in conversations (four if you count generic one). Adding 4-6 just because you hear them in the game files is a mistake - those lines are unused (though in the past one editor added such additional conversations to multiple quote pages and I'm yet to cut them out). Oh, and please, even if you use audio sources (for Voice clips section), listen carefully - I noticed a few errors here and there, for example, "Pokemon Trainers" instead of "Trainers and Pokemon". Also note that voiceover may actually be different from the text appearing on screen - it is rare but not impossible, check Leon's page for reference.

I hope you will continue adding new quotes in the future. Itan (talk) 22:05, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Well when I would obtain their unit in the game, I would try to trigger the different clips manually in the different modes and match the quotes to the templates, or play the story events and type it out manually. But since it's a time-consuming process, I'd prioritized my favorites or any characters I felt like doing if I noticed the content was missing. Especially for some I was interested in like Hop, Raihan, Cynthia, or Fantina where I'd set them as "favorite" sync pairs and spend a while triggering their log-in conversations after days or app updates, or the generic hub conversations after quick reloads. In Raihan's case I could've sworn I've seen and heard more than the single evening log-in conversation in my screencaps, but maybe not.
Once datamined voiceclip videos became more commonplace, I would start using those to clean up what I already had. Some of the voice clips referring to events or area info that weren't already added were obvious enough to me to not add. Otherwise I've noticed datamined content added to articles well in advance of the content's official release, and with little prior advising or guidelines to reference specifically pertaining to this topic, I would add what I'm able to find afterward. At least once the content was either playable or I obtained the unit in-game. Figures I'd try adding a bit more and it comes back to bite me, but alas, noted. When I started adding quotes, it also was like that - I added one unit as a favourite, triggered conversations over and over... But when I realized how slow it is, I started looking for more efficient methods of getting it done. Can't really do it with voiceclips, it's more tedious than uploading text, so I don't bother - that's why I'm happy to see that other people do it instead. Well, for now I have two portions of units neglected - Holiday and NY units (that includes ones such as new Lusamine and Cynthia). I will eventually upload them, so don't worry about that.
If you happen to have any screenshots or other evidence of more than three log-in conversations being in the game, I'd be interested in seing it - so far I didn't find any signs of them in text dumps/datamined information, so I find it unlikely they are actually present in-game. DeNa probably records voiceclips in advance for upcoming alts or something. Notice how they keep the part with Area info and such going - if they add it someday, they will need all characters to have voiceclips, but contacting those voice actors again is more trouble than recording a few more lines while they're at it.
