By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Your recent summary

Very interesting... you said you wanted to upload the sprite but that you couldn't because you weren't allowed to upload new files... But you can actually do so: you're just not familiarized with the files system at Bulbagarden. Because in Bulbapedia the files don't come from Bulbapedia itself, but from the archives, another division of Bulbagarden. The Bulbapedia pages for the files are just an uneditable copy of the original version. So, did you manage to get the sprite? Be careful, because it has got certain requirements:

  • Their height should be of 8 pixels
  • Their name should follow the formula "<game abbreviation (RB/Y)>GlitchName<hexadecimal identifier>.png" (yes, it should be png)
  • You can't crop the names from the pokédex entry: it has to be from a battle, in an emulator that accepts colors (as roms pose legal issues, I won't get deeper into the question)

You're welcome to ask further questions about that here. When you think everything was understood, go ahead! But without stopping sometimes to see eventual advice from me or from others. TheOriginalOne 16:53, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

- I think I had all of those in check. The picture height is actually 10 px, but I followed the example of another glitch Pokémon name elsewhere, and it just has two white pixel rows above and below the name. The name itself is still 8 px tall.

Also, I'm assuming that with long, spacey names that wrap around the screen it's impractical (and thus not very important) to monitor the amount of space in between characters / glitch blocks. Selvah (talk) 09:50, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Then you probably looked at the example of one of my uploads from when I still didn't know that rule. It exists not only in order not to break the text alignment, as to keep that 8px autenticity. Just put the image into an editing software: GIMP, for example, would be practical if you are willing to handle many images. If your problem is just cropping, then, in case you have Windows, you could just use something as simple as MS Office Picture Manager. Anyway, just for a test, instead of directly uploading it to Bulbagarden, try to just do so on an upload site, and then to give me the link. If it follows the requirements, then you're ready to do it alone. TheOriginalOne 13:13, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

- Still says "You do not have permission to create new pages." Here's the uploaded picture, though: puu.sh/48V6H.png - its filename is RBGlitchNameF5.png Selvah (talk) 14:36, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Are you sure you were on the archives and not on bulbapedia? This is the page. Anyway, I said that it can't be cropped from the pokédex entry: it has to be from the battle name, which isn't that brown. Notify me with your progresses. Looking forward to hearing that. オリナル TheOriginalOne 15:36, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

- Affirmative; it was that same page. As for the name, it's different when it's sent out and when it's caught. That screenshot was from when Channeler sent it out, before my game froze. I think the problem is that I can't get VBA to display colors on GB games properly. Would you know a working method of doing this? I've tried a few, and at the moment I'm running Pokémon Red as a .gbc file (instead of .gb). (I doubt discussing this in particular will pose a legal issue.) Selvah (talk) 21:52, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Ah! I think I now know what your problem is. Are you sure that, when you logged in to Bulbapedia, you checked the Remember Me box? In case the answer is no, then you didn't log in to the archives. Try doing that the next time, if I got it right. Also, I don't know much about roms, but if you state that the brown name you gave me was taken from the battle, then go ahead. I hadn't seen something like that before. And please, before uploading it, fill the blank space with white, and then show me. That color isn't perfect due to minor emulator issues. オリナル TheOriginalOne 20:47, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

First: Altough your new article was relatively good, it lacked essential contents, such as the learnset or the glitchcity link. Look at other articles in order to know how to do that. If you want to miss something, then just do so with the pokédex entry, the type effectiveness and/or the sprite box. But without forgetting to add {{incomplete}} at the beginning. Stubs (the ones that miss other things) are what we don't want on a low-traffic project. Please ask me any pending questions if necessary. Also, don't forget to add new ones to {{GlitchPkmn}}.

Second: I regret to inform you that, contrary to what common sense would point to, and shown by what we see here (no links at the end of the list, right?), it was conventioned that the FB-FD ones, due to only being available via cheating, don't deserve articles. I fixed the link to it and added the {{delete}} tag, so now we just need to wait.

I hope you improve your abilities with your potential. You can certainly do it. Thanks for reading. オリナル TheOriginalOne 18:49, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

- Thanks for the heads-up(s). There's a lot for me to cover, but most importantly and contrary to what you said, I think you are able to at least face FB-FD using the Mew glitch with the respective special stats (unless the glitch trainers behave differently when Mew glitched compared to...more straightforward methods). What you're not able to do without cheating is attack or catch them. They should still appear with a legit method, though, so I don't see why they don't deserve their own articles. Heck, even if you couldn't as much as catch a glimpse of them without cheating, I still don't see the point, as long as they exist in the game just like BF-FA, FE and FF. (Taking this further, isn't 'M (FE) just the same as FB-FD? Still has an article, and no-one has a problem with it.

Anyhow, I will look into adding a more detailed page next time, complete with all information deemed necessary to stop it from being a stub. Cheers. Selvah (talk) 21:06, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, I forgot to tell you the whole thing. Or better, I forgot that the convention didn't say "they can't be accessed without cheating, so they don't deserve articles", but said instead "they can't be caught without cheating, so they don't deserve articles". I also don't see the reason, now that I remember. But you know, I didn't make that rule. I once fell on the same mistake as yours, and then I had to correct it. Just discuss that thing with SnorlaxMonster, the project leader. Even when he seems to have been recently avoiding glitch-related matters, it's worth to try. オリナル TheOriginalOne 16:44, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
